Ian Holloway said that there is plenty going on in the background at Swindon Town to prepare for the January transfer window.

The transfer window opens in under two weeks, and Holloway said that he would waste no time making the changes to help Town compete for survival.

He said: “We have already started and they are talking as we speak; we are trying to do deals and talk to people who I have targeted already who I would love to get.

“That is the difficulty because trying to get them in this window is not easy but we will endeavour to get things done.

“I know what I want and we are targeting people those particular skills.

“I believe that I know what I want and the people who are being tasked with doing it day in, day out are on it.

“You have no idea where that is going to go yet because you don’t know who is available but I have identified the certain things and they know what that is.

“That is going on as we speak, all around the world and all around the country; can we find someone who has these particular attributes that I believe the group need to make the cake look and taste an awful lot better?”

Holloway also made clear that he wants at least two more experienced players within his squad to help drive the standards of the rest of the players.

He said: “It is about them communicating what they think is needed, it is not about me or our coaching staff.

“They have to do it themselves, when you get the likes of Grant Hall and Ollie Clarke coming back into your group then it is a lot better.

“They are our two most senior players, with the greatest of respect, the club should have four of them.

“I should be able to pick a team with at least two of them in to help the young ones but our squad hasn’t got that.

“It is a mistake, I am not blaming anyone but it is a total mistake.

“I am much more confident in the mental state of the group now than when I took over but that still needs to be added to.

“I might have to change one or two as the window is coming, that is all, what I am saying to them is that this is not good enough but I believe we have a lot more in there than even they believe.”
