Ipswich Town Women's game away at Gwalia United was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch with the Blues 2-0 in front this afternoon.

Joe Sheehan's side went into the game off the back of their valiant 3-0 defeat at WSL side Man City in the FA Cup two weeks ago.

And the Tractor Girls were comfortably in front at the break, thanks to a brace from Sophie Peskett - but then the match officials deemed the surface unplayable following heavy rainfall throughout the first half at the Newport Stadium.

This is the second time this season the Blues have seen their game postponed away at Gwailia. Their fixture back in September was called off prior to kick-off.

Town were on course to return to the top of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division table, with Hashtag United not playing today.

The Blues return to action when they travel to Watford at their Grosvenor Vale ground next Sunday.
