Tranmere issue instant response after Roy Keane's brutal Liverpool dig at Trent Alexander-Arnold
Tranmere Rovers have issued a swift response to Roy Keane's claim that Trent Alexander-Arnold's defensive performance against Manchester United would earn him a move to the League Two side rather than Real Madrid. The Liverpool defender was not at his best during the first half at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold, who has been linked with a blockbuster move to Los Blancos, was caught out on a number of occasions as United appeared to target that side of the pitch. Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot had joy down Liverpool's right-hand channel during the first period.
And in a brutal half-time assessment of Alexander-Arnold's defensive display, ex-United midfielder Keane told Sky Sports: "It's too easy them chances for United, so easy, couple of balls behind. We talk about how good going forward he is but Trent defending today, my goodness, he's all over the place.

"It's schoolboy stuff. There's talk of him going to Real Madrid, the way he's defending he's going to Tranmere Rovers after this - he's got to do better.
"At least he won't have to move house, will he? He's got to do better defensively, he's got to do better."
Just minutes after Keane made that statement, Tranmere, who play in League Two, responded in typical fashion. The Wirral-based club, who sit 20th in the fourth tier, posted a picture of right-back Cameron Norman alongside the caption: "Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we're alright thanks."
Norman scored the only goal as Tranmere beat Carlisle 1-0 at Prenton Park on Saturday and celebrated holding the ball underneath his shirt. Norman, 29, joined Rovers in the summer after leaving MK Dons.
As for Liverpool, they went into the game against United looking for their fourth successive Premier League win. But the Reds were not at their best during the first half and went behind just after the break as Lisandro Martinez fired home beyond Alisson. However, that advantage was relinquished when Cody Gakpo levelled before Mohamed Salah turned the game on its head from the penalty spot.
