Dyche on Trippier

18:30 , Mike Jones

Kieran Trippier has today been linked with a move away from Newcastle with Everton being one of the more likely destinations for the 33-year-old.

Everton boss Sean Dyche jokingly addressed the speculation saying: “He’s one of many names that has come up here. As if by magic, his name comes up when we don’t have a right-back available”.

Alex Moreno leaves Villa for Forest

18:20 , Mike Jones

Aston Villa’s busy summer continues, but this time it’s outgoings rather than incomings, as Alex Moreno is the odd man out at left-back after the arrival of Ian Maatsen. With Lucas Digne also at the club, the Spaniard has no future after being Unai Emery’s first signing at the club and has sealed a move to Nottingham Forest on loan.

There’s also an option for a permanent deal for Forest, who themselves have a handful of full-backs on the books already.

Harry Toffolo, Ola Aina and Omar Richards all play left-back, as well as Moreno now, with Aina getting the nod there on the opening weekend draw with Bournemouth.

Scott McTominay

Fulham have been interested in a deal for Scotland international McTominay, but United’s reported asking price of £30m could prove a sticking point. Italian side Napoli are another possible destination, but McTominay’s departure could first require reinforcements brought into Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace defender Guehi was one of the most impressive performers for England at Euro 2024 and has returned to club action a man in demand. Aaron Ramsdale

Emery on Martinez’s new contract

17:00 , Mike Jones

The Aston Villa boss said: “We are very happy because Emiliano Martinez is very important. He’s involved completely in this project.

“When I arrived here, I knew him before because we were working in Arsenal together. I knew his mentality and even now it’s stronger than before because he’s achieving individual objectives with his national team and here with Aston Villa.

“His extension is fantastic for us and very good for every supporter of Aston Villa, we can be proud of him.”

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery on the project of the club

16:50 , Mike Jones

“Sometimes I am telling the players that Aston Villa won the Champions League in 1982. It’s one important date for Aston Villa as a club, and it helps to explain to players the history.

“The last history of Aston Villa is progressively getting better, but five years ago they were in the Championship. With the new project, with the history, with the new way we want to create here, it’s about trying to be contenders and be consistent.

“We have to think that we have to be in the top ten, we have to be in the top eight, we have to be in the top six and we have to try to be progressively stronger, getting in the top four like last year.

“This is the way we have to confirm it, like we did last year, being consistent. This is the message I want here; players being hungry to improve, hungry to get another level higher as a club and individually.

“To achieve the objectives we are facing, dreaming is very difficult, but I want to dream and work hard to get it. At the moment we are in a good way but there’s still a lot of work to do to continue being consistent like I want.”

Joao Felix is ‘player that will help us’ says Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca

16:40 , Mike Jones

Joao Felix could make his second Chelsea debut against Wolves on Sunday 25 August as head coach Enzo Maresca tipped the returning forward to be a standout addition amongst a glut of new faces at Stamford Bridge.

Felix completed his return to the club on Wednesday, signing a seven-year contract – 15 months after he last played for the Blues on loan – with the Portugal forward’s arrival from Atletico Madrid helping facilitate Conor Gallagher’s move in the opposite direction.

He was unable to feature for Chelsea against Servette in the Europa Conference League playoff 24 hours later, but could be in line to face Wolves in the Premier League.

Guardiola ‘didn’t have any doubts’ about bringing Gundogan back to Man City

16:30 , Mike Jones

Ilkay Gundogan’s Manchester City return came out of the blue but Pep Guardiola had no doubts about bringing back their treble-winning captain when the opportunity arose.

The 33-year-old midfielder completed a stunning return to the Etihad Stadium on Friday just a year after leaving for LaLiga giants Barcelona.

Gundogan has signed a one-year deal with what he calls the “best club in the world” and Guardiola says he could make his second City debut against Ipswich on Saturday.

Merino close to deal with Arsenal

16:20 , Mike Jones

Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth says that Mikel Merino is close to joining Arsenal though there is still a bit of work needed before the transfer is complete.

Real Sociedad manager Imanol Aguacil has said goodbye to Merino in his news conference on Friday.

Aguacil said: “I said ‘thank you very much’ to Mikel. As Real coach, I want this type of farewell. He came at the age of 22, without making it, he has had six incredible years, with a brutal performance, a cup and five participations in Europe, he has left money, thirty-odd million, he feels Real and he has gone to Arsenal”.

Merino still needs to have a medical and sign off on the personal terms. The deal is worth £32.5m including performance related add-ons.

Toney’s future not settled

16:10 , Mike Jones

Ivan Toney’s future at Brentford remains unclear according to manager Thomas Frank.

Frank declined to provide an update on transfer negotiations with one week left in the window and insisted Toney could be involved in Sunday’s trip to Liverpool despite interest from Saudi Arabia

When asked if the 28-year-old will be in action at Anfield, Frank replied: “Who knows? Let’s see on Sunday what will happen. Ivan trained the whole week. Trained with good attitude in every aspect. He could be involved, he could not be involved.

“He could be here after the 30th and he could not be here. Basically everything is up in the air. I’ve said the whole time that if he’s here I’m very happy, if he’s not here then I’m happy on his behalf.”

Slot praises Van Dijk

16:00 , Mike Jones

Arne Slot was asked about the impact of Virgil van Dijk on Liverpool’s squad and he had nothing but praise for the Reds’ captain. He said: “Virgil came in three weeks ago (after his delayed summer break) and in my opinion he made a lot of impact when he came back,

“He made a lot of impact in all these years and he played here but me working with him he has shown how much he cares about the team and how good he is.

“But for him, and the same with Mo (Salah) and all the others, they still have to bring their performances in, so in my opinion there are four players having competition for two positions.

“But at this moment it is clear Virgil is playing and he will also play on Sunday if he is fit.”

Arne Slot says Joe Gomez can have Liverpool future despite transfer speculation

15:50 , Mike Jones

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has offered Joe Gomez a lifeline regarding his future at the club after admitting he expects all his current squad to remain with him this season.

Speculation about the versatile defender began in June when he was linked with Newcastle and that intensified when he was left out of Slot’s first matchday squad for last weekend’s win at Ipswich.

Asked where Gomez’s head was after being left out last week, Slot said: “It has been in the right place for three weeks. He has worked really hard since he came back.

“He didn’t play a lot in the Euros and when he came back in the first sessions he couldn’t train the whole session so we had to manage his load and that was also a bit a reason why he wasn’t in the team on Saturday.

“But this week he had a good week in terms of load and how much he could do with the team.

“He is one of the players that I see new things from and learn things what I see from him, also combined with other players. It has been a good week for him and us until now.

“At this moment I am expecting everyone to be here. (But) everything can change.”

Gudmundsson joins Saudi side Al-Orobah

15:40 , Mike Jones

Burnley midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old joined the Clarets in 2016 and went on to make 200 league appearances, scoring in his final match for the club in the 5-0 win over Cardiff last weekend.

A statement from Burnley read: “Following over 225 appearances, Europa League qualification, two top-10 Premier League finishes and a Championship league title, ‘JBG’ will always remain a fan favourite.

“Burnley would like to thank Johann for his contribution and commitment over the years and wish him all the best in the future.”

Bournemouth open talks over Kepa Arrizabalaga

15:30 , Mike Jones

Sky Sports News are reporting that Bournemouth have held initial talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Cherries manager Andoni Iraola is keen to link up with an ex-teammate from their time at Athletic Bilbao but any deal is complicated because of wages and the length of his contract still at Chelsea.

It is believed it would require some internal agreements being made at Stamford Bridge for a loan to go through.

Marco Silva on signing Joachim Andersen

15:20 , Mike Jones

“It’s very close. It’s difficult to be talking about it because it’s not official, but it’s close.

“I think he’s a great signing and a player who is loved by this club. I am 100 per cent sure he is going bring something important for us. He is going to be important this season and the seasons ahead.

“I’m hoping it will be official this afternoon. We will be delighted with the signing.”

The Fulham boss also added that the club were looking at bringing in more signings saying: “We are going to sign a forward player. You all know that we have lost two wingers and we haven’t signed any players for that position. We will sign a forward.”

Nostalgia not fuelling Ilkay Gundogan’s return to Man City claims Pep Guardiola

15:10 , Mike Jones

Pep Guardiola said Ilkay Gundogan had not come back to Manchester City to retire and told him it is time to put his football boots on and show the quality that persuaded him to sign the midfielder for a second time, rather than just enjoying a nostalgia trip.

The City manager admitted it was a surprise when he heard that Gundogan, who left to join Barcelona last summer, wanted to return to the Etihad Stadium but said it was an easy decision to agree. The 33-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal after Barcelona let him leave on a free transfer.

Eddie Howe hopes Kieran Trippier remains at Newcastle

15:00 , Mike Jones

Reports have suggested Kieran Trippier, who turns 34 next month, wants to quit Tyneside after a two-and-a-half-year stay during which he has played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s return to prominence.

However, asked if he expected him to stay, head coach Eddie Howe said: “I hope so. I can never answer these questions with absolute certainty because it’s football and the transfer window is always unpredictable.

“But my wish is that he stays here and continues to play for us.”

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola on Evanilson

14:51 , Mike Jones

“He has trained well this week normally with the team. I think he will be for sure involved in the game. We expect that he starts well, he gets everything.

“It’s difficult when someone arrives especially with the language. We don’t want to give him all the information because probably it is too much but we give at least the most important things for his position.”

Liverpool close in on Giorgi Mamardashvili

14:43 , Mike Jones

Liverpool are closing in a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili as they are preparing to make Valencia goalkeeper the first signing of Arne Slot’s reign.

Mamardashvili is not expected to arrive at Anfield until the summer of 2025 but Liverpool have made progress in their attempts to sign the 23-year-old.

Alisson is set to remain first-choice goalkeeper for this season, but the Georgia international could represent some succession planning as Liverpool look to the future.

Enzo Maresca wants Noni Madueke to stay at Chelsea after goal against Servette

14:35 , Mike Jones

The 22-year-old cemented his place in the Italian’s plans with a clinical finish lashed in at the near post in the second half of what was at times an uncomfortable match against the Swiss side.

“I really like Noni,” said Maresca. “The only problem is that he has to understand that he has to be consistent during the week in training. He’s a good player and he’s doing well with us.”

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil on transfer rumours and budget

14:16 , Mike Jones

“I’ve obviously seen some of the noise. I do try and stay away from the noise when I can. There’s not really a financial limit, it is more are players valuations right.

“We can do stuff definitely between now and the end of the window, it just needs to fit for the team and the football club.

“Some of the figures and things you’ll hear banded around, I have not heard any figure in any of my meetings or discussions. It’s more ‘can we find things that fit football-wise and financially?’ than a set budget.”

Tottenham’s Solanke injured

14:08 , Mike Jones

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed £65m signing Dominic Solanke will miss the game against Everton on Saturday.

“Dom picked up a knock in the last game,” said Postecoglou. “He got through the game but it flared up the day after and he’ll miss the game tomorrow.

“It’s an ankle injury. He copped it really early on, someone went across his ankle. It just depends on his recovery. We’ve got the international break but it’s not serious.”

Manchester United have wasted billions, but ‘those days are ov

14:00 , Mike Jones

It was a statement of intent, by stepping back. When Manchester United were quoted £75m plus add-ons by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite, the pursuit pretty much ended there and then. Some at the Goodison Park hierarchy were taken aback by the abruptness. They were convinced they would get that kind of price.

Dan Ashworth, United’s new sporting director, was adamant they would not. It was a point of principle. “Those days are over,” he was heard to say. Another line uttered at the top of Old Trafford was “the gold at the end of the United rainbow is no more” for other clubs.

It’s why their negotiations for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte have been so protracted.

Howe surprised by Trippier speculation

13:54 , Mike Jones

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe spoke in his press conference about how he was surprised by the speculation that Kieran Trippier may leave the club.

Addressing the rumours, Howe said Trippier “continues to be really valued” by the club.

Chelsea business still not done?

13:45 , Mike Jones

Enzo Maresca says that Chelsea may still be in the market to sign new players especially if they can get a deal for a No.9 over the line before the end of the window.

The manager said: “I just communicate the players that I like and the players I don’t like. Hopefully we can find solutions for them because at the end, when you find solutions, everyone is happy. When you don’t, probably you can create some problems.

“We don’t need to sign players just for signing players. If we sign a player to make us improve, we will sign players, otherwise we are happy with the way we are.

“If we have a chance to bring a No 9 that makes us better, we are going to try.”

Jude Bellingham has emerged as an injury doubt for Real Madrid’s clash with Real Valladolid after sustaining a knock in training.

Carlo Ancelotti confirmed on Friday that the midfielder was being assessed ahead of his side’s second La Liga fixture.

Gundogan deal a surprise for Guardiola

13:30 , Mike Jones

Pep Guardiola says the possibility of re-signing Ilkay Gundogan came as a surprise which just shows how unpredictable the transfer window can be.

The Man City boss said: “When managers say ‘this is the transfer window, anything can happen’, this is the real proof.

“It was a complete surprise, unexpected. We know him quite well, me personally, but the staff and players, and we know the quality he played last season at Barcelona. He played at a high, high level, consistency, playing a lot of minutes and producing a lot.

“We didn’t have any doubts when the possibility was open. Absolutely delighted he’s back. He’s not a teenager anymore but the recent why we decide to do it is for the level he played last season.

“Even the Euros, playing with the national team, he played really, really good as well.

“He knows what we want to do, he doesn’t need to adapt, he knows the city, the club, the way we want to play. He’ll immediately settle good.”

Sunderland sign Isidor on loan

13:22 , Mike Jones

Sunderland have signed Wilson Isidor on a season-long loan from Zenit Saint Petersburg, with the option to make the transfer permanent.

Isidor said: “I’m so happy to be here and sign for Sunderland. It is an amazing club with a huge fanbase – and when a club like that wants you, it feels amazing.

“I didn’t hesitate. It was a natural decision. I always knew Sunderland was a big club, so I can’t wait to get started and to see the Stadium of Light full. Hopefully, I can get the fans chanting my name.”

Race for Sterling heating up

13:15 , Mike Jones

Raheem Sterling seems highly likely to leave Chelsea this summer and clubs are lining up to bring in the former Manchester City winger.

Aston Villa have begun talks with Chelsea over a transfer and now Crystal Palace are one of the teams interested in signing Sterling ahead of the transfer deadline next week.

A deal for Sterling to join Palace would need an agreement to be reached on finances and be right for the Eagles, due to the potential cost of the transfer due to Sterling’s wages and any fee that would need to be paid.

Sterling has made 81 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City for £50m in July 2022.

Guardiola on possibility of re-signing Sterling

13:09 , Mike Jones

After the signing of Ilkay Gundogan earlier today, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was asked if the club has their sights on any further moves including the possibility of bringing Raheem Sterling abck to the Etihad Stadium.

He said: “I don’t think so but I don’t know. The market might provide us something that is financially good for us but at the moment I do not know.

“He [Sterling] is a Chelsea player. I feel so attached with him because of the time we had together and I feel like that with all my players. But he is a Chelsea player. If you had asked me about Gundogan previously, I would have said he was a Barcelona player.

“But I wish him all the best.”

Arsenal might have to wait as they target Nico Williams

13:00 , Sonia Twigg

Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams is Arsenal’s preferred target for a wide player in the last week of the window, although there is an acceptance they may have to wait for a major move.

Mikel Arteta is now keen to increase the options in his forward line, with the London club set to secure midfielder Mikel Merino’s move from Real Sociedad. One issue influencing recruitment, however, is Arsenal effectively operating off a different budget depending if a player is a named target or not.

It isn’t quite a case of the club just being willing to pay a certain amount for a necessary position. Arsenal are willing to pay what it takes for those specific named targets they feel would be certain starters, as could be seen with Declan Rice last summer.

Pep Guardiola press conference

12:45 , Sonia Twigg

Pep Guardiola’s press conference has just started, and there is likely to be a fair amount about the recent news that Ilkay Gundogan will be re-joining the club for a year.

Here is what the former Germany international said about it: “I’m incredibly happy, happy to see my team-mates, the staff, people that I had seven years with and an amazing time with. Many ups and a few downs but an incredible experience. When you leave this place, you spend a year away and you then start to appreciate the place even more.

“You realise what you had, how amazing the time was and how big the club is. The best club in the world and I think in terms of football – getting back onto that level and coming back a year later is an incredible feeling. I am very pleased, very happy and I feel privileged to share the dressing room again with these amazing players.”

Kieran Trippier latest

08:46 , Sonia Twigg

One of the more surprising transfer stories that emerged yesterday was that Kieran Trippier wants to leave Newcastle this summer.

The 33-year-old has been a key figure since Eddie Howe took charge of the club, but was an unused substitute against Southampton last weekend.

Trippier has two years left on his contract, but Newcastle have previously rejected an offer from Bayern Munich for the defender.

He is reportedly considering a move to Everton.

Noni Madueke could leave Chelsea

08:28 , Sonia Twigg

Noni Madueke was not part of Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League, but did come off the bench to score in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Newcastle are considering a loan move for the winger, according to The Mirror.

Brentford sign Liverpool youngster

08:25 , Sonia Twigg

Brentford have signed Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg for a deal worth up to £25m.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Mainz, and made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga.

He has joined on a five-year contract, and Liverpool retain a 17.5% sell-on clause.

Raheem Sterling possible move

08:10 , Sonia Twigg

Raheem Sterling has been linked with a possible move to Aston Villa, according to The Guardian.

Chelsea have made it very clear that the England international is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans for the squad, and he has not been included in the two matchday squads this season, and his number has been given to new signing Pedro Neto.

Unai Emery is hoping to add another attacker to his squad, but Sterling’s wages could prove a problem. He is reportedly on £325,000 a week with three years left on a deal.

Villa might be willing to consider a loan deal, but the wages again might cause an obstacle.

Liverpool interested in Branthwaite

07:56 , Sonia Twigg

Liverpool want to nab Jarrad Branthwaite from local rivals Everton, according to The Sun.

The reported deal could be up to £70m to secure the services of the highly-rated 22-year-old, who has already been a target for Manchester United this summer.

Crystal Palace latest

07:51 , Sonia Twigg

Not quite a player transfer, but Sky Sports are reporting that part-owner John Textor wants to sell his 45 per cent stake in the club, with the intention of looking at a possible takeover of Everton.

Textor reportedly visited Everton’s training ground on Wednesday.

A statement read: “We can confirm that we are interested in selling our interest in Crystal Palace, largely so that we can pursue a relationship with the Everton club and community.”

07:43 , Sonia Twigg

Will Newcastle manage to secure Guehi?

04:00 , Mike Jones

Marc Guehi was always going to be in demand after Euro 2024 and so it has proved with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe identifying the 24-year-old as his top summer signing.

Newcastle have reportedly had four offers rejected by Palace, with the latest said to be worth £60m plus £5m in add-ons.

Guehi showed his continued commitment to Palace by captaining the side at Brentford, but Eagles fans will remain nervous that they could lose him and fellow defender Joachim Andersen, a Fulham target, before the window closes.

Ivan Toney heading to Saudi Arabia?

02:00 , Mike Jones

Ivan Toney appears to have played his last game for Brentford after being left out of their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.

The England striker missed Sunday’s 2-1 win with Bees boss Thomas Frank revealing his absence was due to “transfer interest” and that Brentford opted to leave him out.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli are reportedly keen and £60m would secure the services of the 28-year-old who has one year left on his contract.

The Saudi side remain far away from that valuation however as do potential Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United who have moved on to other targets.

Friday 23 August 2024 00:00 , Mike Jones

Forest in advanced talks over Nketiah

Thursday 22 August 2024 20:30 , Mike Jones

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with Arsenal over the signing of forward Eddie Nketiah.

Discussions are ongoing over the structure of rumoured £30m fee and the make-up of performance related add-ons.

Nketiah looks set to be moving to the midlands if this one can get over the line.

Chelsea and Napoli meet for Lukaku future

Thursday 22 August 2024 19:50 , Mike Jones

Sky Sports are reporting today is a big day for Chelsea as Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, is heading to meet club officials.

The No1 item on the agenda is Romelu Lukaku, with the Italian side only offering €30m including add-ons and Chelsea wanting more - but only willing to discuss a permament deal too.

Antonio Conte wants Lukaku, Napoli lost on the opening day and Chelsea don’t want Lukaku on their books any longer - and the striker himself has no current other options in Europe.

Joachim Andersen off to Fulham in centre-back merry-go-round

Thursday 22 August 2024 19:40 , Mike Jones

Crystal Palace have been fending off bids for Marc Guehi, but centre-back partner Joachim Andersen is departing - Fulham have agreed a £30m deal for him.

He’s been having a medical and will join a club he played at on loan in 20/21.

It’s not a direct impact on Marc Guehi, but it still could affect what happens and who does what.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba is now wanted by Newcastle since they’ve been rejected for Guehi, but Axel Disasi is also an option. Palace are now thought to be in for a new defender too, and Leverkusen will sell Jonathan Tah or Odilon Kossounou if they need to before Tapsoba goes - because they want to sign Sepp van den Berg from Liverpool.

The Reds have already accepted an offer from Brentford for the Dutch defender, so he has a choice to make, but Leverkusen must sell before they buy in that position.

Wolves have been offered the other two defenders from B04 but are talking to Burnley over Dara O’Shea instead, with Ipswich keen on him too as well as Sheffield United’s Anel Ahmedhodzic.

So, in short...Andersen has his future all sorted out, but everybody else is now a case of dominoes and brinkmanship on who can wait longest before deciding where they’ll go.

Ilkay Gundogan having medical at Man City

Thursday 22 August 2024 19:30 , Mike Jones

After only one year away and still with two on his Barcelona contract, Ilkay Gundogan is back at Man City and set to sign a one-year deal.

He’s having a medical for City ahead of a free transfer, with Barca simply wanting him off the books given his enormous wages and their summer outlay on Dani Olmo.

Gundogan’s deal is widely reported to include the option of a second year if he completes his move and rejoins Pep Guardiola. He’s now 33 years old.

Fulham could sign French starlet Cherki

Thursday 22 August 2024 19:10 , Mike Jones

Rayan Cherki is in line for a move to Fulham - if he wants to. The London club and Lyon have agreed a fee of around £13m plus £4m in add-ons, report L’Equipe and other outlets, but the 21-year-old has doubts over whether that’s the right move for him.

He can play as a support forward or a creative option from the flanks or attacking midfield, is very skilful, a great ball-carrier and prone to arguing with his coaches.

From a teenager he was a huge prospect, but hasn’t quite managed to find the blend of consistency and productivity just yet.

Different reports on Man Utd’s chase of Ugarte

Thursday 22 August 2024 19:00 , Mike Jones

Manchester United haven’t made much of a secret that they want Manuel Ugarte from PSG as their midfield reinforcement, but there’s no movement on that front for now.

Depending on which recent report you favour, though, it could be getting closer...or not. United don’t want to pay the £51m asking price and while the Mirror suggest PSG simply won’t lower their demands from that point, Sky Germany say United are “closing in” for a deal to be completed in the coming days.

West Ham target PSG midfielder

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:50 , Mike Jones

Former Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler is a decent squad player for PSG but not a guaranteed starter. Presumably he’d be that for West Ham if he joined, but it feels a big deal to get over the line.

The Guardian report tha manager Julen Lopetegui is keen on a £20m deal for him, but the Hammers have to sell players first after an outlay in excess of £100m this summer.

Kurt Zouma’s move to Shabab Al Ahli is off after he failed a medical, and there are so far no buyers for Nayef Aguerd or Maxwel Cornet. Similarly, big earners Michail Antonio and Danny Ings will be tough to shift, the report says.

Alex Moreno leaves Villa for Forest

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:40 , Mike Jones

Leicester want Palace’s Ayew

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:30 , Mike Jones

Leicester are close to finalising a deal with Crystal Palace for Jordan Ayew.

A fee has been agreed between the clubs that could reach £8m with add-ons, which for an experienced Premier League forward seems very cheap.

The deal is not finalised but Leicester are concentrating on strengthening in the attacking areas of the team.

Southampton enter race for Ramsdale

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:20 , Mike Jones

Southampton are preparing to make a loan bid for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta’s with first-choice goalkeeper by David Raya now permanently at the Emirates.

He featured 11 times for the Gunners in 2023-24 with six of those coming in the Premier League. Arsenal’s preference is to do a permanent deal for Ramsdale - or at least a loan with an obligation to buy.

Wolves have been interested in Ramsdale too but prefer a loan deal with an option to buy.

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:10 , Mike Jones

Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg is set to undergo a medical with Brentford this evening.

He has travelled to west London and will hold further talks with the club at the training ground. Bayer Leverkusen remain interested and this deal isn’t over the line yet.

Sky Sports News have revealed that both clubs agreed a £25m deal with Liverpool to sign the centre-back.

Erik ten Hag calls for ‘patience’ as Manchester United target more summer signings

Thursday 22 August 2024 18:00 , Mike Jones

Erik ten Hag has called for patience as Manchester United keep “working hard” in their search for a fifth summer signing.

United have been interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte for weeks but there has remained a significant gap in the two clubs’ valuations of the Uruguay international.

The FA Cup winners have spent around £150m this summer but could enter the last week of the transfer window without bolstering their midfield.

The BBC claim prosecutors in Brazil could still decide to investigate independently, although Antony has not been arrested or charged.

Thursday 22 August 2024 10:33 , Karl Matchett

Fulham have landed their Joao Palhinha replacement! A £25m fee has seen them sign Sander Berge from Burnley, the midfielder joining the Cottagers hoping to make it third time lucky.

He has been relegated with both the Clarets and Sheffield United already, so will aim for survival at least this time around.

The Norwegian was on the radar of Man United too, but Fulham have landed him for 20m initially, another five on add-ons and with a five-year contract signed.

Deal agreed! Liverpool selling Sepp van den Berg to Brentford

Thursday 22 August 2024 10:08 , Karl Matchett

Plenty of reports emerging over the last hour or so that Liverpool are selling a second youngster to Brentford, following Fabio Carvalho’s exit to the Bees for £27.5m.

Now defender Sepp van den Berg is set to follow him, with the Dutch defender seeing a deal agreed for him for £25m plus £5m in add-ons.

The 22-year-old centre-back featured heavily in preseason but wasn’t involved in the Reds’ opening weekend win over Ipswich, with Jarrel Quansah and Ibrahima Konate both ahead of him, plus Joe Gomez still an option centrally.

Liverpool haven’t yet signed anyone but this deal would bring their income well past the £50m mark, all from Brentford.

Thursday 22 August 2024 09:59 , Karl Matchett

They are still talking with Palace over Guehi though.
