Liverpool faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury after the Reds' number 66 limped off in the second half against Bournemouth earlier today.

Alexander-Arnold was replaced by Conor Bradley on 70 minutes, shortly before Mohamed Salah netted his second goal of the afternoon to secure the three points for his side. It is unclear at this stage exactly what the knock was that he felt or when he might return.

"The situation was that he said to me, 'You have to take me off'," Arne Slot explained during his post-match press conference. "He sat on the floor and we took him off. He felt something. I can’t tell you exactly what and how bad it is.

"We are one hour after the game, but it is never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let’s hope he is back with us as soon as possible."

Liverpool doesn't play next until Thursday when it will look to overturn its 1-0 deficit against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final. Bradley started the first leg of that tie and might well be needed for the return at Anfield too.

The injury was a setback on a day where Liverpool had achieved a big result against an in-form team. "We need to stay humble and take each game at a time," two-goal hero Salah told Sky Sports at the final whistle.

"It feels good scoring goals and the team winning. My main target is to win the Premier League with the team. We are going in the right direction."
