Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed he wants to leave behind a legacy as one of the best right-backs in the world - whether he leaves this summer or not.

The Reds star has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, with Alexander-Arnold out of contract come the end of the 2024/25 season. The 26-year-old has been offered a new deal to stay at Anfield, but is yet to agree to terms with the club.

While Alexander-Arnold has been more reserved about his future compared to Mohamed Salah, he has always reiterated the most important thing for him at this point in his career is to not only win trophies but cement a personal legacy.

Liverpool sits top of the Premier League, are through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and are undefeated in Europe in the Champions League this term. But a major factor in Alexander-Arnold's thinking right now is his desire to ensure he is known as one of the best of all-time in his position when it is all said and done.

"We've mentioned your mural, which is on the corner of Anfield Road just by the stadium. It's got your words on it, 'I'm just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true," Roger Bennett of 'Men In Blazers' told Alexander-Arnold in a recent interview.

He added: "Trent, you've won everything there is to win with your club, you've won the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, a pair of Carabao's, what are you dreaming about? What else would you like to accomplish other than beating Mo Salah at chess."

Alexander-Arnold admitted: "Of course, winning more trophies, but I think on a personal level, it's a legacy - building a legacy. I think that's something that's important." Bennett replied: "A legacy is what Trent?"

"I think just being spoken about in the highest regard," said Alexander-Arnold in response. "Especially after you've finished. So I think in 10, 15 years, if I'm spoken about as one of the best right-backs, or the best right-back then that's what I'm playing for now and using it as motivation."

Liverpool.com says: Alexander-Arnold has always been clear that he wants to win trophies and in that regard, it is on Liverpool to prove that he can do that at Anfield. Real Madrid would be an interesting prospect to any player in the world and at 26-year-old's, Alexander-Arnold must be considering a move to Spain. If Liverpool want Alexander-Arnold to sign a new deal, they must convince him his future lies on Merseyside.
