Trevoh Chalobah has taken to social media to react to his Player of the Match performance in Chelsea's win against Wolves on Monday night.

The 25-year-old defender made his first appearance of the season for the Blues after his loan deal with Crystal Palace was cut short last week. The west Londoners made the decision to recall Chalobah with Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both long-term absentees in the centre of defence.

Chalobah was thrown straight into Enzo Maresca's line-up for the visit of Wolves and the Cobham graduate massively impressed as Chelsea's ended their five-match run without a victory in the Premier League. Starting alongside Tosin Adarabioyo, with Levi Colwill missing through injury, Chalobah produced a superb display and even got himself an assist for Noni Madueke's goal - which proved to be the final one of the night at Stamford Bridge.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Chalobah reflected on what was a fantastic return to life at Chelsea. "Psalm 23," the defender wrote on his story - perhaps a reference to his new shirt number - alongside a picture of the official Premier League Player of the Match award.

Maresca was asked about Chalobah's performance after the game and the Italian admitted it was really good to have the defender back. "Absolutely [it is good to have him back," the Chelsea head coach said.

"He was very good and I have said already that the reason he is back is because we are sure he is going to help us and tonight he showed exactly what he is capable of doing. Firstly, he is a strong defender. He is quick, he can defend in behind, he can defend forward, he is aggressive, but we already knew that, which is the reason we called him back."

Maresca was also asked about Madueke, who played a big part in Chelsea's second goal and less than five minutes later, scored himself, to put the Blues in a commanding position against Wolves. However, the head coach admitted there was a drop off from the England international after he found the back of the net and has called for an "immediate" improvement from the wide man.

"He can improve in the last third, but probably after he scored the goal, he stopped playing," Maresca said on Madueke. "This has to be one thing that we need to improve immediately.

"Never happy if you score one or two, always you have to go for more. After he scored the goal, he stopped playing a little bit and it's something that we need to improve.

"We just try always to help them to improve. After the goal, probably he was a little bit tired, but it's the moment we need to go for more."

It was the second time this season that Madueke has been publicly called out about his work-rate. Back in December, in the win over Aston Villa, the former PSV Eindhoven winger was left out of the squad and Maresca spoke negatively afterwards about his attitude at the training ground.
