Luis Diaz insists he is happy at Anfield and claimed that "great years are coming for the club" as Liverpool prepare to usher in a new era this summer.

Diaz has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent months and the Ligue 1 champions will be on the search for a wide forward this summer after Kylian Mbappe confirmed his decision to leave the French capital when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

The Colombia international's father, Luis Manuel Diaz, was also quoted earlier this season, in media back in his homeland, talking up the potential for a "dream" move to Barcelona at some stage in the player's career.

And with Liverpool close to appointing Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp's replacement and Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards set to begin sporting director and CEO of football roles from June 1 onwards, there will be a new power structure at Anfield once the current manager leaves after nearly nine years in charge.

But despite the speculation over his future and the impending transition at the top of the club, Diaz says he is excited by what is coming next at Anfield and revealed that he is happy to stay on Merseyside.

“I have grown a lot," Diaz said. "From the beginning of my career to today, I feel that with the passage of days, of years, living each experience in each different team, coming to this great club that is Liverpool, leaves you with a lot of learnings.

“You learn more and more to be a professional, to be a better person, to be a good team-mate and a good guy. The truth is that I am very happy to be here. Great years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that.

“Personally, I will always try to do my best, always try to give 100%, to always stand out on the field, which is what I came [here] to do. I’m always grateful to God for every opportunity.”

In an interview with Liverpoolfc.com, Diaz added: “It’s no secret, we didn’t finish as well as we hoped. For us, it was crucial to win the league and all the competitions we were in. Unfortunately, the results lately could not be achieved.

“We fell [behind] as a team, but we made a decent season, both individually and as a group. There are many things to improve so we can have a perfect season. But I’m happy and content to be here.”
