Two debuts as Middlesbrough make five changes - Sunderland at full strength
MICHAEL CARRICK has handed Mark Travers and Morgan Whittaker a Middlesbrough debut in this evening's Tees-Wear derby with Sunderland.
Carrick has made five changes to his starting side at the Riverside, with Ryan Giles, George Edmundson and Marcus Forss also selected in the Boro line-up.
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has made one change to his starting side, with Chris Rigg returning to the line-up.
Travers replaces Tom Glover in goal, having joined Boro on a season-long loan from Bournemouth last week.
Giles is making the first start of his second spell as a Boro player, getting the nod ahead of Neto Borges, while Edmundson is preferred to Dael Fry at centre-half.
Whittaker plays in place of Ben Doak, with the Liverpool loanee unavailable because of an injury that is set to keep him on the sidelines for a number of weeks.
Forss starts in attack, with Tommy Conway on the substitutes' bench as he completes his recovery from injury.
Sameul Iling-Junior is also named amongst Boro's replacements, having completed a season-long loan move from Aston Villa over the weekend.
Rigg returns to Sunderland's starting side in place of Salis Abdul Samed, who drops back down to the bench after starting last weekend's home draw with Plymouth.
Wilson Isidor will start as a lone striker, with Eliezer Mayenda on the substitutes' bench.
