Liverpool resume their Premier League charge on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with a tough test away at Brentford. Arne Slot's team remain in a good position to win a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title this season.

The Reds sit four points clear of second-placed Arsenal, with a game-in-hand after last month's Merseyside derby was postponed to February 12. But Liverpool have dropped points in their last two Premier League fixtures, with a 2-2 draw against Manchester United followed by Tuesday night's 1-1 stalemate against Nottingham Forest.

They now face a tricky fixture vs the Bees - who completed an impressive comeback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Manchester City in midweek. Brentford have lost just two league fixtures at home so far this campaign.

And several Reds players have hinted they will feature in Saturday's match. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are among the Liverpool players who have posted pre-match graphics on their Instagram stories, hinting that they may start against Thomas Frank's team.

Historically, players who share such graphics have tended to be in the starting XI come kick-off, or at the very least involved in some capacity. Asked if he was surprised by the negative slant on some of the questions he is currently having to face up to as the head coach of the Premier League leaders, Slot said: "No, this might sound weird, but in general what I've felt until now.

"I was used to more negative questions in Holland than I get over here. And if I remember correctly at Feyenoord we were mostly top of the league, as well, at Feyenoord.

"So, no, I don't experience it as something negative. The difference might be that in Holland they talk more about team performances - and here it is more about individuals.

"So here it is always; 'Mo Salah is great' or 'he is not so good at the moment' or 'he is not so good at the moment'. That is, for me, the difference but not in terms of positivity or negativity."
