Birmingham City’s trip to Blackpool in April will be rearranged to accommodate the club’s Wembley date in the Vertu Trophy final.

Blues sealed a spot at Wembley by beating Bradford City 2-1 at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday night. Scotland international Lyndon Dykes scored the goal that decided the tie in the 88th minute.

The winner of Wrexham versus Peterborough United, which takes place next week, will await Blues under the arch on Sunday, April 13.

Blues are due to take on Blackpool in League One on Saturday, April 12 but that game will have to be rescheduled.

The trip to Stevenage on March 22 is also set to be postponed due to internationals. Blues added Scotland international Grant Hanley and South Korea’s Lee Myung-jae to their squad in January, meaning they now have nine players who could realistically be called up to represent their countries in March.

Clubs in Leagues One and Two aren’t entitled to international breaks but their games can be postponed if three or more players are called up for duty. Blues have had three games postponed already this season due to international fixtures.

They could always elect to play in the international window but Chris Davies has previously said he wouldn’t want to put the club at a disadvantage.

Blues have 18 games to play in their mammoth season – 17 in the league and the Vertu Trophy final – and are playing every few days until the next international break in March. Blues don’t have a midweek date free until week commencing April 14.
