West Ham will be without two crucial men for the trip to Manchester City this weekend as Pep Guardiola welcomes his players back to training to see who he will have available.

City returned to winning ways at Leicester last weekend and must build on that against Julen Lopetegui's out-of-form West Ham side - who will be without their captain and first choice goalkeeper at the Etihad.

Lukas Fabianski will be absent due to the concussion he suffered on Boxing Day, with Alphonse Areola likely to step in between the posts. And Lopetegui has confirmed that influential forward Jarrod Bowen will not recover in time from the injury that forced him off at Liverpool on Sunday.

Lopetegui said: "We have to wait ten days to fulfil the Premier League protocol [for Fabianksi], after that he will be ready to help us but we are confident in Alphonse [Areola] and Wes [Foderingham].

"[Bowen] is going to be out for a few days for sure. Unfortunately for us he has an injury, he played for 30 minutes with it, and now he has to recover. It's not good news for us, but we are sure he will work hard on his recovery because of his character.

"I prefer not to give a number of days, but we'll see how things develop. Jarrod is one of our main players, and our captain, but we have to find solutions, and it's up to the other players to show they're ready. We're looking for Jarrod to recover quickly, but in the same way looking at the other players."

City have injury concerns of their own, with Nathan Ake limping off against Leicester for the second game running. John Stones has been injured, while Ederson and Matheus Nunes have been out for the last two games.

Ruben Dias was given a lay-off of three to four weeks ahead of the Aston Villa defeat before Christmas so Guardiola could offer an update on Friday on his progress as well as the four doubts above.

Rodri and Oscar Bobb will definitely miss the clash on Saturday.
