Tyler Dibling Tottenham transfer can give Ange Postecoglou 'a different beast' in his masterplan
Southampton ace Tyler Dibling looks set to feature heavily in the headlines over the next week as the January transfer deadline edges ever closer. Premier League clubs wanting to add to their playing squad for the second half of the campaign have until 11pm on Monday, February 3 to do so.
Tottenham need to be very active in what remains of the transfer window as Ange Postecoglou is desperate for a couple of additions to give his depleted squad a much-needed lift. Dibling has been mentioned with a move to the capital, with The Telegraph reporting that Spurs could look to strike an agreement with Southampton for the teenager to move to N17 at the end of the season if they cannot sign him this month.
The right-winger, who has played in a number of roles for Saints this season, has enjoyed an incredible breakthrough campaign at St Mary's, registering four goals and two assists in his 24 appearances in all competitions. The 18-year-old has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise dire season on the south coast after delivering some outstanding performances and he looks set to move on at some point in the not too distant future.

Amid links with Tottenham, the north London club certainly wouldn't have it all their own way for Dibling as the attacker has been linked with a number of other sides. So what exactly have people in the game said about Dibling? football.london takes a look below.
Russell Martin on Dibling
"Tyler was unfortunate not to play earlier because he had an amazing pre-season. So he has an incredible belief in himself in a really nice, humble and modest way," explained Martin (via Tribal Football). “But he has to just keep living at 100% and understand where that is and understand what's got him this far.
"I think he has a brilliant support network with his family. He has a lot of trust from us and he has that back. It's not always plain sailing with young players. So to make him understand that and to make him understand what's really important for him and for us - and we're fortunate.
"At this minute in time, he couldn't play for every team. He suits the way we play a lot and he's getting so much better at the stuff he needs to improve on. But he needs to continue to grow and develop and stay so hungry. I think that's always a challenge with young players when they have a quick rise to keep them hungry.
"To keep them humble and to keep them wanting to learn, improve and develop. But with Tyler, I don't see that being a problem. He's such a calm and confident boy in the nicest way. As long as he maintains his sense of self and his character and his personality, and that's up to us to help him do that along with his family, then I've got no worries about him.
"With regard to him playing, if he's playing well and in form, he'll be treated exactly the same as Adam Lallana at 36 years old. I don't think age comes into it. I think it's part of the reason we were brought to this football club is our record of developing young talent and young players and turning them into established players.
"Then making them valuable assets for a club as well. I think we've known the plan with Tyler. Last year was very difficult for him to play. We had a lot of talented players in his position and we're trying to get promoted from the Championship but he's come back a different beast.
"This year, with how much he's grown and learned, if he continues to grow like that and develop, then his ceiling is so high. But we need to make sure that the expectation stays realistic because we have a brilliant habit in this country of picking young players up and then shooting them down."
Martin on Dibling
"Tyler was excellent," said Martin after Southampton's draw against Ipswich Town in September (via The Independent). "But we also need to bear in mind his age and be patient. It’s not just going to be easy and a linear path to being the best he can be.
"But he can do things that not many other players I’ve ever seen can do. I love working with him, I love watching him play. I’d pay a lot of money to watch him play football and fortunately I’m the guy that gets to work with him and try and develop him."
Theo Walcott on Dibling
"Tyler Dibling, I actually shared the field with him at Southampton when he came up the ranks," said Walcott in an interview with Sky Sports. "He’s another one from the academy that we should be proud of. They’ve built some very good players.
"You always need to be a bit cautious when players come through but he has already shown signs at such a young age about how confident he is. He is free. I always feel that is the gift that Southampton always give, the freedom for young players to come and express themselves. He’s getting rewarded right now."
Danny Murphy on Dibling
"It is the quality he has got - the belief in himself and the physical power. He just goes past people with ease. He has got a lovely left foot. He is very brave on the ball and his decision-making is good," said Murphy on Match of the Day.
"It is difficult to get too over the top with these young players, because he has just come on to the scene, but he is going to be something special. It is great for him getting all these minutes at Southampton. They are giving him the freedom to play and giving him time to learn the game.
"He is just enjoying himself and he is playing with a real belief in himself. He is just instrumental in this team."
Kyle Walker-Peters on Dibling
"He's got a lot of quality but you don't want to put too much pressure on an 18 year old," said Walker-Peters in an interview with talkSPORT (via The Daily Echo). "I think he needs to just enjoy playing this football, learn as much as he can, and then I think the world is his oyster."
Flynn Downes on Dibling
"He deserves everything he gets," said Downes after Southampton's draw with Ipswich Town (via Tribal Football). "He's some talent, he's some bloke as well. So yeah, he's just got to keep his head down, keep doing what he's doing and he'll be some player.
"Do you know what, there's a lot of young players that let things get to his head and stuff like that. I don't think he's (like) that. I think he's just got that humbleness, do you know what I mean? That down-to-earth, get-your-head-down work ethic.
"Don't get me wrong, senior lads will definitely help him and try and advise him and stuff like that."
