Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is hopeful the knee injury Tyrone Mings suffered against West Ham is not going to keep him sidelined for long.

The centre-back was forced off in the first half, but initially tried to continue playing after receiving treatment for a few minutes, before pulling up when contesting for the ball. He walked off gingerly and held his shirt up to his face as he went down the tunnel.

Mings was replaced by Ian Maatsen in the 38th minute while Lucas Digne shuffled across to left centre-back alongside Ezri Konsa.

"After the first test we did, I think it is not a relevant injury for a long time," Emery said. "Tomorrow we will test again and better. We will know how important his injury is. We are positive."

Villa midfielder John McGinn returned from injury today after he missed the last four matches in all competitions, but only two in the league against Everton and Arsenal.

The final Champions League league phase clash against Celtic is to come on Wednesday night (8pm), before Villa face Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

Villa are then in FA Cup action against Tottenham the following weekend with the fourth round clash taking place at 5:35pm on Sunday, February 9.
