Tyson Fury breaks silence on social media after retiring from boxing
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has spoken out for the first time since he retired from boxing after a 16 year professional career, but fans have been left disappointed after the 'Gypsy King' took to social media to promote a competition.
Tyson Fury announced on the 13th of January this year that he was retiring from boxing for the third time in a fresh bombshell statement. The 36-year-old has announced comebacks before, but this one may be the one to stick following his narrow loss against Oleksandr Usyk last year.
He made the announcement in a short Instagram video: “Hi everybody, I’ll make this short and sweet, I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast and I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this, Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, I’ll see you on the other side.”

Given he had previously announced retirements that he came out of, many comments cast doubt on if the boxer will stay out of the ring for very long, the top comment saying "See you in 6 months lad." He has twice stepped away from the sport. However, both previous retirements have followed victories, firstly after a huge win over Wladimir Klitschko and then after a Wembley Stadium win over Dillian Whyte.
Following that post, things have been relatively quiet from Tyson on his social channels, until today. In an Instagram post, the Brit revealed how fans can enter a whopping competition to win themselves a Mercedes SL55, saying: "Hi guys, Tyson Fury here! Sign up to Ring Magazine today and get your chance to win the SL55. All the best. Good luck and god bless you."
The post seemed to trick a few fans, with one writing: "Thought you were announcing a comeback," while another replied: "Really thought he was out of retirement already when I seen this video." A third posted: "Was hoping for come back video!! Get back in the ring Tyson!!"
With a net worth of £40 million, there's certainly no rush for the boxer to make his way back into the ring. However, fans were eagerly anticipating a match-up with fellow Brit boxer Anthony Joshua.
Despite Fury insisting he's done, should he choose to come back, he must reverse his decision in the next “three or four weeks” to set up a summer showdown with 'AJ,' according to Hearn. The boxing promoter told the Daily Mail: “None of us know what Fury will do next, but if we are to see the fight in the summer, he would probably have to come out of retirement in the next three or four weeks."
