Tyson Fury retires from boxing after making shock announcement
Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing weeks after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time.
In a video uploaded to his Instagram account, Fury, 36, said, "Hi everybody. I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing.
"It's been a blast. I've loved every single minute of it, and I'm gonna end with this: 'Dick Turpin wore a mask'." Richard 'Dick' Turpin was a highwayman during the 18th century who infamously wore a mask to conceal his identity.

"God bless everybody," Fury signed off. "See you on the other side," before shouting: "Get up!"
Fury captioned the post: "Thanks, it's been a blast. Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy New Year. Jesus is King, now and forever." Since posting the video just before 2pm, Fury has also shared it on his Instagram story and pinned it to the top of his profile.
The boxer has previously announced his retirement multiple times. However, this latest proclamation comes after Usyk beat the former unified heavyweight champion in their much-awaited rematch in December. The Manchester-born boxer lost that fight by unanimous decision months after coming up short in their bout to become the division's undisputed champion.
Fury's announcement appears to end all hope of a fight with Anthony Joshua in what would widely be considered the biggest-ever British boxing event. There was also recently speculation that Fury could finally rematch Wladimir Klitschko if the Ukrainian came out of retirement.
'The Gypsy King' retires with a professional record of 34 wins from 37 fights, 24 coming by way of knockout. The only blemishes are the two losses to Usyk last year and a split draw with Deontay Wilder in 2018, who Fury went on to beat twice in 2020 and 2021.
