Paddy Pimblett has revealed that he wants to make his return to the octagon at UFC 314 in April - with Ilia Topuria and Alexander Volkanovski set to headline the event in Miami.

Pimblett has not fought since he defeated American King Green with a first-round submission at UFC 304 last July. Following his victory over Green, Huyton-born Pimblett moved into the UFC lightweight rankings for the first time.

But the 30-year-old has spent the last seven months out of action to spend more time with his twin girls, Margot and Betsy, who were just weeks old when he started preparing for his bout with Green.

Now, though, Pimblett has revealed that he wants to fight on UFC 314 at Miami's Kaseya Center on April 12, which is set to be headlined by a second featherweight title fight between Topuria and Volkanovski.

Speaking on the ECHO's Blood Red podcast, Pimblett said: "I'm hoping to fight on UFC 314, Miami. I've never been to Miami, so I'm hoping to fight on that. That's my plan.

"I've heard that Illia is headlining the 314 event against Volk, but you don't know until anything is finalised with the UFC. I've been told this and that in the last few weeks and months...we'll just see what happens.

"I want to fight in Miami and then Abu Dhabi in October. That's the plan. I hope I can get it. Beat this opponent, a top eight opponent, beat someone in the top four or top five and then fight for the [lightweight] belt. Islam [Makhachev] might be gone by then. He might've retired. We'll see what happens."

On rumours circulating of a potential bout with either Michael Chandler or Dustin Porrier, Pimblett added: "I always tell people to take no notice of those stupid Twitter pages. They do anything for clicks."

Pimblett's next opponent could be announced at UFC 312 on Saturday night.
