Unai Emery warns Liverpool about Marcus Rashford after eye-catching start at Aston Villa
Unai Emery has issued a warning to Liverpool, urging them to take note of Marcus Rashford's form following his recent move to Aston Villa.
Rashford made his second appearance for Villa as a substitute in their 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town. Although he has yet to score for his new club, Emery assured that the Manchester United loanee is "feeling comfortable" and ready for Wednesday's clash with Liverpool.
Rashford had attracted interest from clubs like AC Milan and Barcelona, but ultimately chose to join another Premier League side. After a stellar first season under Erik ten Hag at United, where he netted 30 goals, his form took a downturn, and his performances under Ten Hag and later Ruben Amorim were not up to the required standard, with Amorim indicating that Rashford's displays in training hadn't earned him a starting spot.

After a substitute appearance against Viktoria Plzen on December 13, Rashford was not included in the squad again. The forward eventually stated that he was seeking a fresh challenge, leading to his move to Aston Villa.
Discussing Rashford at his post-match press conference, Emery said: "He was getting better and feeling comfortable as well. He will help us for the next matches."
On the fitness of both Rashford and fellow new signing Marco Asensio, Emery adds: "Today he played 45 minutes and 35 minutes for Asensio as well. Progressively they are getting fitter, and they will have opportunities to help us."
Rashford, made a strong impact after coming on as a substitute for Jacob Ramsey in the second half, creating the most chances (four) and completed the most dribbles (three) of any player. His performance has certainly caught the eye, and the 27-year-old will be eager to earn his first start under Unai Emery when Liverpool visit Villa Park.
For Arne Slot's side, it’s yet another must-win game as they continue their pursuit of the Premier League title. However, the clash promises to be an intriguing contest, with Villa also looking to return to winning ways and push closer to a coveted European spot.
Liverpool.com says: As the season unfolds, the prospect of facing Aston Villa with Rashford finding his form again will be a significant challenge for Liverpool. Slot's side will need to prepare meticulously, focusing not just on stopping Rashford, but also dealing with the overall attacking threat that Villa now poses. For now, Emery’s warning stands: Rashford is one to watch, and Liverpool will have to be ready to face him
