Turkish outfit Kasimpasa have sent a heartfelt message to Yasin Ozcan after the teenager has opted to join Aston Villa in the summer.

The 18-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement and will join Unai Emery’s squad at the end of the current season.

He will play out the current campaign with the Super Lig club, where he clearly remains a popular player having made his breakthrough in the 2022/23 season.

In announcing the deal Kasimpasa released a statement which paid tribute to the centre-back: "Our player Yasin Özcan, who was developed in our infrastructure, always left his mark with his struggle on the field and the unforgettable moments he gave us.

“Thank you endlessly for every beautiful memory you've given us, for your dedication, and for the effort you put in for our Kasımpaşa.

“We proudly announce that Yasin Özcan has transferred to Aston Villa from the English Premier League.

"Our young player will continue to wear our jersey until the end of the season and will join his new team after the season. We wish him continued success.”

Ozcan became a mainstay in the Kasimpasa starting XI last season, starting 33 of the club's 38 league matches and has continued to impress at the start of this season.

He has featured predominantly at left centre-back, but he has also played plenty of games at left-back too since coming through the ranks.

Ozcan is one of the most promising talents coming out of Turkey, though he is yet to make his debut for his nation.

He was called up to the squad for their June friendlies before EURO 2024, but was not named in the squad for the summer tournament. He was on the bench in Turkey's most recent game against Montenegro in November.
