UWFRA's Cai Jarvis clinches second place in Spine races
CAI Jarvis, of Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue, tackled extremely tough conditions to clinch a second place in the Montane Spine races along the length of the Pennine Way.
Cai, taking part in the Winter Spine MRT Challenge South, for members of Mountain Rescue, he covered the 108 miles from Edale to Hawes in a time of 44 hours, 55 minutes and 49 seconds.
Pictured here on Sunday, between Thornton-in-Craven and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at East Marton, Cai, who by that time had been going non-stop for more than 24 hours, said conditions had been very tough with thigh-high snow drifts.
Cai is one of five members of UWFRA and three from the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) who has either finished or still in the event, which this year saw the route diverted away from Penyghent due to the weather conditions.
