Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division One clash between Tyrone and Kerry has been moved from Omagh following a pitch inspection at O’Neills Healy Park.

The venue had been due to host a double-header with the Lidl LGFA Division One tie between Tyrone Ladies and Kerry Ladies due to throw-in at 11.30am.

However, the men’s game has been moved to an alternative venue following a pitch inspection on Saturday morning after heavy rain across the country on Friday. With further heavy rain forecast for Sunday, Tyrone officials felt the game wasn’t capable of hosting two fixtures.

The round four tie will now be played in Plunkett Park in Pomeroy with Edendork also on standby having hosted the 2020 meeting between the counties. The Ladies game will still go ahead at O’Neills Healy Park.

Tyrone are seeking an urgent return to winning way after back-to-back defeats on the road to Armagh and Mayo following their first round win over Derry in Omagh.

Kerry are also in need of points after blowing an 11-point lead against Dublin last weekend. Jack O’Connor’s men snatched a last-gasp win over Derry in their opening game before losing their rescheduled game against Donegal.

Kerry were comfortable winners over the Red Hands in Killarney last March, but lost out in 2023 when Tyrone had home advantage.

Indeed, Tyrone are unbeaten in their last four home games against Kerry with their last defeat on home soil against the Kingdom coming back in 2013 - although they were relegated from Division One after drawing the round seven meeting in 2015.

Tyrone have yet to name their team for the game with speculation that the Canavan brothers, Darragh and Ruairi, might return along with their Errigal Ciaran clubmates Joe Oguz, Peter Harte and Cormac Quinn.

David Clifford, meanwhile, has been included in Kerry’s starting 15 following his brief cameo in last Saturday’s one-point loss to the Dubs in Tralee.
