Victor Orta aims transfer dig at ex-Man City striker Kelechi Iheanacho after Leeds United link
Former Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has taken a swipe at Kelechi Iheanacho. The former Leicester City and Manchester City striker was rumoured to be a Whites transfer target in the January transfer window.
It has been claimed the 28-year-old is edging closer to leaving Sevilla, with United's Championship rivals Watford reportedly close to reaching an agreement to sign the player on loan. Iheanacho has failed to nail down a regular starting place since joining the La Liga outfit last summer. The Nigerian international has found the back of the net three times in 11 appearances across all competitions. However, Iheanacho has yet to score in the league, with his goals coming in two Copa Del Rey fixtures.
Orta, Sevilla’s sporting director, confirmed Iheanacho has received offers to move on to pastures new. Speaking yesterday, Orta told Diario de Sevilla: “The club has received some offers that we have forwarded to him and he is evaluating, like the rest of the players, what would be his best option, there is still a week left.

“I think that the three positions could be close and it is a question of the player being able to choose his best option for these six months.”
Orta admits the Spanish club have been disappointed with Iheanacho's performances this term. “I said it in the previous press conference, it is clear that we all expect a better performance from Iheanacho, I think that the performances have nothing to do with the quality of the footballer,” Orta said. “In fact, he is having interest from other teams. Right now the market is open, he knows his situation, I think he wants to play more because he has that feeling that he believes he can still contribute more, we will see what happens until Monday.”
