Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has hinted that Kelechi Iheanacho can leave the club this month amid reported interest from Leeds United. The 28-year-old has struggled for form since his move to Spain after leaving Leicester City last summer.

Iheanacho arrived in Seville on a free transfer but he hasn't lived up to expectations. He has failed to score in nine La Liga appearances and was left out of the squad for the 1-1 draw with Valencia last Saturday.

His last goal for Sevilla came in the Copa del Rey against fourth division side UE Olot last month. In total, the Nigeria international has netted three times in 11 matches for Sevilla, playing just 581 minutes in all competitions.

It hasn't been the greatest start to life at Sevilla for Iheanacho, but he could be set for an abrupt departure. According to Football Insider, Leeds have registered an interest in signing the former Manchester City and Leicester forward. It's added that he is available for a late-January loan move.

The report states that Leeds have shortlisted Iheanacho and have made contact over a deal. However, Daniel Farke's side are expected to face strong competition for his signature, with Wolves and Ipswich Town linked and a move to Elland Road could be a difficult one to manoeuvre.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, ex-Leeds director Orta, who is now at Sevilla, offered his verdict on Iheanacho's future and admitted that his future could lie away from the La Liga side.

"The market is open. We have the obligation to study all the offers. There are three parts. The players also have their feelings about their future. With the market open, anything can happen with any name," Orta said in a press conference, per Diario de Sevilla.

Before his move to Sevilla, Iheanacho had spent seven years at Leicester. He became a cult hero at the King Power Stadium after helping the Foxes win the FA Cup in 2021. Iheanacho scored four goals and provided one assist in six matches en route to the final as they won the competition for the first time.

In total, Iheanacho scored 61 goals and added 34 assists in 232 matches for Leicester. He was part of the side that won the Championship last season before leaving at the end of his contract in the summer.
