Chelsea still have a chance of signing star-striker Victor Osimhen after reports claim the Nigerian forward has received a brand new price-tag - but do they still want to sign him?

The Blues were hot on the tail of Osimhen in the summer but a deal fell through for the Nigerian forward with his wage demands said to be too high. They were desperate to sign a clinical striker after Nicolas Jackson struggled with consistency despite netting 14 goals in the Premier League last season and another three in all competitions last season.

But things have taken a turn at Stamford Bridge. Not only has Osimhen's price tag been lowered, but Jackson has developed into a well-formed striker raising his own price tag.

Journalist Nicolo Schira wrote on X: “Victor Osimhen’s release clause (€81m) will be valid from January 2025. From July, the clause will be €75m.”

Chelsea have a key decision to make here. They could stick to their guns and trust £32m Jackson in continuing to lead the Chelsea line, who has nine goals in 15 Premier League games so far.

Or, do they reinforce their forward line by signing Osimhen? Jackson's form in front of goal certainly allows them to focus on other areas of the squad and there is also the possibility of selling Jackson in order to raise funds for an approach for Osimhen.

Currently on loan on Galatasaray from Napoli, he has seven goals from 10 league matches and is on the radar for a number of European clubs. There's little evidence to suggest that Chelsea will cash in on Jackson and it's more likely they'll bolster their striker options by adding more depth, rather than taking goals away from their forward line.

That being said, If Enzo Maresca is wanting to move for the Osimhen, he will have to do it quick. It is reported that Manchester United are also very keen on the Nigerian striker, meaning both clubs could be in for a bidding war during the transfer market.

Jackson is only in his second season at Stamford Bridge and is on an eight-year contract. If the Blue's striker keeps scoring like he is now, he is predicted to finish with 20 top flight goals.

Even though Osimhen's price tag has been decreased, which would have been a dream scenario for Chelsea last summer, there's less of an urgency to sign the striker due to Jackson's fine form this season.
