Viktor Gyokeres sends new message as Arsenal get £50m update after transfer 'agreement' reached
Arsenal continue to be at the centre of several transfer rumours despite the unlikelihood of any January signings. The Gunners have been plagued by some key absences already this season with more of those coming in attack recently that has seen questions asked as to why Mikel Arteta is not dipping into the market.
Both Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri are currently missing because of injury but Arteta does not appear as though he is planning on spending this month. “First of all, someone who can impact the team, bringing bodies it doesn’t help at all," he said on transfers earlier this week.
“In this market that is something very difficult to achieve. It's always a possibility if it’s somebody that is going to make us better.” We have certain limitations and we have lots of gaps and things you have to cover. It's also about the players and whether you can afford them.”

Despite hinting that no additions are to come, major updates on Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams, two players strongly linked to Arsenal, have come to light. With that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.
Gyokeres message
In Sporting CP's Portuguese Cup final against Benfica, Gyokeres bagged goal 32 of the season. The Swede showed off his current confidence levels by opting to Panenka a penalty to equalise for his side in very tense circumstances. He also scored in the shootout that followed, though his side lost on spot-kicks.
Another attacking return for Gyokeres follows on from claims by Record Portugal that he has agreed with Sporting that he will be free to depart if any offer between £58.6million and £62.8million (€70million and €75million) arrives.
football.london says: At this point it is more of a surprise when Gyokeres doesn't score in a game for Sporting. The former Coventry City is still somehow averaging over a goal per game with a fifth hat-trick of the season arriving just over a week ago.
Plenty can of course be said about the standard of the Portuguese league but a scoring rate being that good regardless of the competition or level, cannot be overlooked. Gyokeres has proven time and time again he may well be the elite-level striker that Arsenal are craving.
A January departure is still extremely unlikely but groundwork can certainly begin if the decision is ultimately made that Gyokeres is the priority over the likes of Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko.
Williams update
A major transfer update on Nico Williams has come to light with clarification provided on his Athletic Bilbao release clause. “Mikel Arteta loves Nico Williams, it’s a long-term admiration," the Athletic's David Ornstein admitted recently.
"He would have liked to have signed him in the past, he would really like to sign him in this January transfer window, but there’s a good chance he can’t because of the finances involved.
"He has a release clause, just shy of €60m (£50.3m), it fluctuates with inflation and it has to be paid in one go. He also earns a very good salary in Bilbao already, that salary would need to rise if he was going to move to the Premier League, which is another obstacle.”
football.london says: Having watched Williams closely at Euro 2024, it is clear to see exactly why Arteta is such a big fan. Since breaking onto the mainstream scene while playing for Spain last summer, he has struggled significantly for contributions in front of goal with just seven arriving in his last 25 games.
The 22-year-old is of course an absolute joy to watch and even though the £50million fee that would be required is not really that much in this era of transfers, Arsenal need an attacker that can define games in the key moments and currently Williams seems to be proving he is not capable of that.
Last season, he managed an impressive 19 assists but he is currently on just five. He is of course still contributing in the build up but the final delivery has not been on show as consistently as he probably would have wanted. It is also brings into question whether his significant wages are worthy of what he would bring to the table at Arsenal.
Arteta is ultimately the one with the final say and judging by multiple reports that talk about his admiration of the player, he could well be a summer priority but several stumbling blocks and concerns seem to be prominent.
