Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres has proven his worth yet again by scoring another three goals in his latest Sporting CP performance.

As the wait extends into the January transfer window for Arsenal to make definitive action buying a striker, one potential deal for future has caught the eye of his new supporters more than any other. Goalscoring sensation Gyokeres was instantly linked with the move, now it remains to be seen if it becomes a reality.

Although the striker himself has previously thrown cold water on any January transfer taking place, anticipation still continues to build for the summer 2025 window.

And in case Mikel Arteta was able and tempted to dip into the market this month for a new attacker rather than wait it out for Gyokeres, the player has sent a timely reminder that he should be viewed as the top target above anyone else.

Last night the Sweden international netted his 71st, 72nd and 73rd goals in 78 appearances for his Portuguese club. The first came after just two minutes, then he grabbed the others in the 14th and 57th minutes.

However, his strikes were in vain as they did not lead to victory. Sporting were forced to rescue a 4-4 draw in added time vs Vitoria SC as the club's woes continue.

They held an unbeaten record up until November before Ruben Amorim joined Manchester United, now have been dragged back into a domestic title race with the coach's replacement already sacked.

Reports have suggested although the forward possesses a €100m (£83m) release clause, there is an agreement in place with Sporting chiefs to allow a departure in summer for a lower fee of €60-70m (£50-58m).
