Viktor Gyokeres' Sporting fury could prompt January exit amid Man United links
Viktor Gyokeres' reaction at Sporting Clube de Portugal fans spoke volumes after their 2-1 defeat against Clube Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Things continue to go from bad to worse for Ruben Amorim's former cub, as they suffered their fourth defeat in five games since the departure of the Manchester United manager. After being humbled by Arsenal in their previous home fixture in the European competition, Sporting fell to defeat in Belgium.
Despite the result, players stood to applaud the away supporters but were greeted with pyrotechnics. Gyokeres, who was stood at the front, raised his hands questioning the fans' gesture.

Captain Morten Hjulmand also took his colleagues away while Conrad Harder made his own gesture towards supporters. Gyokeres, who was unsettled, said of the situation: "We went there and wanted to thank them for coming here to support us.
"But it's sad when things like this are thrown at you when you're trying to win every game. We go to the field and that's all we try to do. It hasn't been an easy period for us and we understand that it is also difficult for them, but it would be much easier if we got through this phase together."
Since Amorim left the club last month, Gyokeres has only gone on to score once in the Liga Portugal and struggled to find the back of the net in their last two Champions League games. In the league, Sporting have recorded back-to-back losses since the 4-2 comeback against SC Braga, which was Amorim's last game in charge. Rivals Benfica and FC Porto, have closed the gap to just two points.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Lisbon despite only arriving in the Portuguese capital last summer from Coventry City. A reunion with Amorim at Old Trafford has been heavily rumoured and a move in the winter could well be on the cards after all - should the situation not improve under new manager Joao Pereira.
