Virgil van Dijk provides Liverpool recovery update as Bournemouth warning sent
Arne Slot's master plan has worked ahead of Liverpool's trip to Bournemouth. As one of several players left at home to recuperate whilst European duties took place this week, Virgil van Dijk has fired the warning he is '99 percent' ready for the next challenge.
The Reds resume Premier League duties after a Wednesday visit to PSV Eindhoven, which was a highly irregular one in the Champions League. As automatic qualification for the competition's round of 16 had been sealed the previous week, Slot opted to leave his big guns on Merseyside and field a heavily-rotated line-up.
Before flying out, the head coach explained that Van Dijk, along with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz, would get three rest days off before resuming training on Thursday.

Now, a little over 24 hours out from the clash at the Vitality Stadium, the latest message from the captain's corner is a very positive one. Out on a Friday morning stroll, Van Dijk has shown his Instagram followers that he is '99 percent recovered,' having last kicked a ball six days ago against Ipswich Town.
The defender's recovery has been measured by a Whoop fitness tracker, which collects data on a person's heart rate, respiratory rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, sleep, strain, recovery, and stress, all to provide custom recommendations to help an individual improve performance and recovery.
Andoni Iraola's side have already claimed the scalps of both Arsenal and Manchester City on home soil this season, while they have also beat Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in their last two games. With second-placed Arsenal facing Manchester City on Sunday, the Reds could move nine points clear as Premier League leaders by the end of the weekend.
