Virgil van Dijk has seemingly urged his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield, stating "let's keep going" after the Egyptian netted his 21st goal of the season.

Salah's goal saw him surpass Frank Lampard to claim sixth place in the Premier League's all-time top scorers list, and Van Dijk hopes the 32-year-old will continue adding to his tally for Liverpool. The Egyptian’s brace helped the Reds extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points with a victory over Bournemouth.

Both Salah and Van Dijk, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are in the final few months of their contracts with no immediate signs of an extension being agreed.

The Reds captain was highly impressed with the forward’s performance, describing him as “phenomenal” and “outstanding” in his post-match interview.

Speaking to Match of the Day, the Dutch international said: "Let's make it more, let's keep going. He has obviously been amazing for the football club over all those years.

"I see the hard work he puts in, but the numbers speak for itself. It's an outstanding performance, but he is a phenomenal player."

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker also heaped praise on Salah, highlighting not just his goal-scoring ability but also his commitment to the team.

"He [Mo Salah] is quality, he knows how important he is for the team when he scores.," said Alisson. "Defending is something he doesn't like to do, but he does it for the team."

Salah remains focused on Liverpool’s title aspirations rather than the uncertainty of his future along with personal achievements. "We need to stay humble and take each game at a time," he said. "It feels good scoring goals and the team winning. My main target is to win the Premier League with the team. We are going in the right direction.
