Vuskovic ban, Devine goal, Donley Man City incentive and deal finalised - Tottenham loan latest
Tottenham's loan army has increased in size with Alfie Dorrington departing on loan for the very first time. The academy ace has headed north of the border to link up with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen for the remainder of the season.
Dorrington has unfortunately not had many opportunities to feature under Ange Postecoglou but his switch to Pittodrie gives him the chance to grow as a player and return to Spurs in the summer with a number of first-team games under his belt. The 19-year-old is the latest of a handful of Under-21s stars to have exited on loan in the 2024/25 campaign.
In the latest edition of our Tottenham loan roundup, a few players had weekends to remember, some had weekends to forget and others didn't even feature at all due to the cold weather to hit the country. Here is how Tottenham's loan players fared last weekend:

Manor Solomon (Leeds United)
Manor Solomon added another assist to his name on Saturday as Leeds United secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town. The winger's assist came after running at his man down the left flank before darting into the box and standing the ball up for Largie Ramazani to head home.
Solomon came out on top in Leeds Live's player ratings from the match after receiving a score of eight out of ten. They wrote: "Brilliant floating ball to assist the opener. Put in some brilliant crosses all night, in fact, and tried to be as creative as he could against a back five."
Leeds are next in action on Sunday when Sheffield Wednesday make the trip to Elland Road for a lunchtime kick-off.
Dane Scarlett (Oxford United)
Dane Scarlett was handed his first start under Gary Rowett on Saturday but he couldn't help Oxford United from suffering an FA Cup exit at the hands of Exeter City. The striker did play the full 90 minutes of the game at St James Park and notched an assist for Matt Phillips' early opener.
It was some assist as well from Scarlett as he played a sublime first-time pass across the edge of the box from 25 yards out for his teammate to convert in style. Scarlett and Siriki Dembele scored best in Oxford Mail's player ratings with marks of 7/10.
On Scarlett's performance, Oxford reporter Liam Rice wrote: "Lovely assist for Phillips and provided a decent threat up front when the ball did get to him. Booked." It's set to be a busy week of football on the cards for Scarlett and Oxford as they take on Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening before hosting Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Bryan Gil (Girona)
Bryan Gil was on the pitch for Girona for 77 minutes on Saturday as the La Liga side won 1-0 away at Alaves. The deciding goal came after Gil's exit as Jhon Solis scored the crucial winner in the 91st minute of the contest.
Girona return to action on Saturday with a home clash against Sevilla.
Alejo Veliz (Espanyol)
Alejo Veliz continues to start games from the substitutes' bench for loan club Espanyol. Missing out on the starting XI for Saturday's home game against Leganes, the striker was introduced for the final 28 minutes of the contest as the sides played out a 1-1 draw.
Espanyol are at home once again on Friday when they host Real Valladolid.
Alfie Devine and Luka Vuskovic (Westerlo)
Alfie Devine scored for the second game running as he found the back of the net in Westerlo's 2-1 defeat against STVV on Saturday. His goal was a rather fortuitous one as his cross to the back post from the left evaded everybody and crept in at the far post.
Certainly not the best goal he has ever scored, Devine most definitely won't be complaining about it after taking his tally to four for the season. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the contest and so did Luka Vuskovic, although the centre-back did see red come the full-time whistle.
Receiving a yellow card for dissent immediately after the referee had sounded his whistle, the Croat was then shown a straight red a matter of seconds later after getting in the referee's face and reacting furiously to his initial caution. Vuskovic's reaction sparked an angry response from captain Dogucan Haspolat as Devine just watched on as his future Tottenham teammate exited the pitch.
The youngster got a few more things off his chest when walking past a match official and it resulted in one of Westerlo's coaching staff trying to calm him down and usher him off the field of play. Vuskovic will now have to serve a ban following his dismissal, with Westerlo back in league action on Sunday away at Antwerp.
Ashley Phillips (Stoke City)
Ashely Phillips played his part as Stoke City sprung a surprise in the FA Cup at Championship high-flyers Sunderland with a 2-1 win after extra time. Following a 1-1 draw in normal time, Niall Ennis scored the winner for the Potters in the 112th minute of the contest.
Phillips received a score of 8/10 in Stoke-on-Trent Live's player ratings from the game. "Adopting a defend first approach which suits him, winning headers and difficult to beat on the floor with his pace and size," was the verdict from Stoke reporter Peter Smith
Stoke will now host Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Staffordshire club are away at West Brom in the league on Saturday.
Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley (Leyton Orient)
Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley will be hoping for some more magic in the FA Cup when Leyton Orient face Derby County in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening. The tie was initially set to take place on Saturday but a frozen pitch at the Gaughan Group Stadium saw the game fall foul of the weather.
Donley, Keeley and the Leyton Orient team have a huge incentive to advance past their Championship opponents as a home clash against Manchester City awaits in the next round. Orient travel to League One strugglers Peterborough United, who were defeated 2-0 by Everton in the FA Cup last Thursday, on Saturday afternoon.
Matthew Craig (Mansfield Town)
Matthew Craig's Barnsley nightmare has come to an end after joining fellow League One side Mansfield Town on loan for the remainder of the campaign. A permanent fixture in the team in the first part of the season, the versatile player struggled for regular minutes prior to his Oakwell exit after only featuring in one of their last 11 league games.
On Craig's move to Mansfield, manager Nigel Clough, speaking to the club's official website, said: “Matthew is a central midfield player who we’ve had our eye on for some time. It’ll be good to strengthen in that area, bearing in mind all the games we have in the second half of the season.
“The one position we haven’t got competition for is Louis Reed and Matthew provides us with that. He’s a similar player to Reedy; a good passer of the ball who competes. He can play in any one of the three midfield positions and has some experience in League One this season with Barnsley.”
Mansfield face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening before hosting League One promotion contenders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
George Abbott (Notts County)
There was to be no game for George Abbott and Notts County on Saturday as their game at Grimsby Town was postponed 90 minutes before kick-off. The Magpies' next game comes on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Accrington Stanley.
