Vuskovic punishment, recall activated, Abbott wonder goal, Keeley heroics - Tottenham loan latest
We have seen a bit of movement on the Tottenham loan front over the past week as the January transfer deadline edges ever closer. This time closing at the beginning of next month, clubs have until Monday, February 3 to complete any remaining basis.
It is set to be a big fortnight for Spurs with incomings and outgoings potentially on the horizon. In terms of players heading out of the door, Alfie Dorrington is now an Aberdeen player for the remainder of the season after joining the Scottish side on loan.
One player who is now back at Tottenham, though, is Dane Scarlett. However, the striker looks to be back only temporarily with a move elsewhere likely to come to fruition.

Amid those transfer moves, Spurs still have plenty of players playing their football for teams across the globe. Here we take a look at how the club's loanees got on over the past week.
Manor Solomon (Leeds United)
Manor Solomon's Leeds United loan spell is quite clearly bringing out the very best in the winger. The 25-year-old was on the scoresheet in Sunday's 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday as he opened the scoring with a composed finish after only three minutes.
His latest strike means he now has four goals and five assists to his name from 21 appearances for Daniel Farke's side. Solomon once again fared very well in Leeds Live's player ratings after receiving a mark of 8/10.
"Showed terrific composure for the goal. Kept the ball well under pressure and completed many a dribble. Was a reliable attacking outlet with some dangerous runs and crosses," penned Leeds reporter Isaac Johnson.
Solomon and Leeds are back in action on Wednesday evening when they host Norwich City at Elland Road.
Alfie Dorrington (Aberdeen)
Dorrington made his Aberdeen debut off the bench at Ibrox last Wednesday as his new side fell to a 3-0 defeat away at Rangers. Although The Dons returned to action on Saturday with a Scottish Cup fourth round tie away at Elgin City, the Spurs youngster remained an unused substitute for the 3-0 win.
Dorrington will have his fingers crossed that his first Aberdeen start comes his way on Saturday when they take on St. Mirren at Pittodrie.
Dane Scarlett (Oxford United)
Scarlett's loan spell at Oxford United has come to an end after Tottenham recalled him from the Championship club on Monday afternoon. Amid Spurs' lack of numbers up front at present following Dominic Solanke's injury, football.london understands that the frontman's recall is purely down to a lack of game time at Oxford and he is likely to be sent out on loan elsewhere this month.
Scarlett was an unused substitute for the U's on Saturday as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium. He departs Oxford having scored four goals and registered one assist in 22 appearances in all competitions.
Bryan Gil (Girona)
Bryan Gil came up against former club Sevilla on Saturday as Girona suffered a 2-1 home defeat. The winger played 89 minutes of the contest but made way for Portu as Girona searched for an equaliser.
The Spanish side's next game comes on Wednesday evening when they travel to the San Siro to face AC Milan in the Champions League.
Alejo Veliz (Espanyol)
After having to settle for minutes off the bench recently, Alejo Veliz started as Espanyol secured a 2-1 win over Real Valladolid on Friday evening. Veliz was not to get his name on the scoresheet but his first start in the league since November could possibly prove to be a turning point for him.
Veliz will be hoping that is the case when he comes up against former loan club Sevilla on Saturday evening. Amid his woes at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium last term, the Argentine will be intent on proving a point by scoring against Garcia Pimienta's side.
Alfie Devine and Luka Vuskovic (Westerlo)
Alfie Devine was on the losing side on Sunday as Westerlo lost 3-2 away at Royal Antwerp. It was certainly a game for former Tottenham players as Vincent Janssen and Toby Alderweireld both found the net for the hosts.
Devine played 84 minutes of the contest but he did still manage to receive a yellow card after his substitution as he was booked for dissent in the 101st minute. Future Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic was not involved in the game due to his ban after he received a red card the previous weekend against STVV for his angry reaction after the final whistle.
As reported by DH Les Sports, Vuskovic was handed a one-match ban, a two-match suspended sentence and a €2,000 (£1,690) fine following his red card.
Ashley Phillips (Stoke City)
Ashley Phillips played his part as Stoke City picked up a point at West Brom on Saturday following a 1-1 draw. The youngster was awarded a score of 7/10 in Stoke-on-Trent Live's player ratings.
They wrote: "Glimpses of an excellent defender. Massive, quick enough across the ground and can read the game well."
Mark Robins' side are away on Wednesday evening when they make the long trip to Portsmouth.
Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley (Leyton Orient)
It was a week to remember for Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley as they helped Leyton Orient set up an FA Cup fourth round clash against Manchester City. Playing out a 1-1 draw with Championship side Derby County, Orient won 6-5 on penalties with both players playing their part.
Already producing heroics in the FA Cup with an unlikely goal against Oldham Athletic in the second round, goalkeeper Keeley saved from Callum Elder in the shootout to allow Zech Obiero the chance to score the winner for the east London club. Donley had put Orient on their way in the shootout by converting their first penalty.
As well as his pivotal moment in the shootout, Keeley's memorable week continued after he claimed the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for December after keeping six clean sheets in six games. He recorded another one last Saturday as the League One club played out a 0-0 draw against Peterborough.
Orient take on Stevenage in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday evening, with a home clash against play-off rivals Reading on the agenda on Saturday.
Matthew Craig (Mansfield Town)
Amid his Barnsley loan woes, Matthew Craig was back on the pitch for Mansfield Town over the past week. Firstly playing 67 minutes in their FA Cup third round exit against Wigan Athletic, he then came off the bench in the 57th minute in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Wycombe Wanderers.
Craig will have the opportunity to add to his Mansfield appearances on Saturday when they travel to Cambridge United for a lunchtime kick-off.
George Abbott (Notts County)
It was some weekend for George Abbott as he scored an outrageous volley for Notts County in their 3-0 win at Accrington Stanley. The Spurs youngster may indeed struggle to top the goal during his football career - it was that good.
From a corner kick, the ball was floated to Abbott just inside the area and he duly volleyed it into the top corner with a vicious first-time strike. The 19-year-old now has four goals and three assists to his name in his 22 appearances for the Magpies this season.
Notts County, who are fifth in the League Two standings, are at home to Bromley on Saturday afternoon.
