Wakefield Trinity forward Luke Bain has returned to Australia with immediate effect. The two parties have 'mutually agreed' on a release with the West Yorkshire club now having a quota spot to work with.

Bain, 24, signed for Trinity from Queensland Cup side Brisbane Broncos ahead of last season and made 12 appearances for the club. He was assigned the number 22 shirt for 2025 and still had a year to run on his deal. However, after not featuring for Wakefield against Leeds Rhinos on Boxing Day, he will now return to Australia and leave Daryl Powell’s side with a quota spot to fill ahead of their return to Super League.

Posting a short club statement, Wakefield wrote: "Wakefield Trinity can confirm that Luke Bain has left the club in a mutual agreement that will see him return home to Australia. We’d like to thank Luke for all his efforts and wish him well."

Bain was born in the United States but moved to Australia at a young age. He also has Scottish heritage and represented Scotland at the Rugby League World Cup back in 2022.

Meanwhile, Wakefield have signed the likes of Jake Trueman, Cam Scott, Tom Johnstone, and Mike McMeeken, who was made club captain this month, for 2025. They begin their Super League account against Leeds at Headingley next month.
