Wakefield Trinity respond to Nene Macdonald transfer reports
As the Salford Red Devils saga rumbles on, speculation continues to intensify regarding the players who may depart and the clubs that are circling.
Last week, Salford appeared to spark a fire sale into life when they said in a club statement that they had been instructed to sell players without delay. Since then however, no players have been sold and a number of figures at clubs have told Rugby League Live that their offers have been ignored by the Reds over the weekend.
It hasn't stopped various players from being linked with clubs over the weekend though, with one of those players being Nene Macdonald. Reports have linked the Papua New Guinean with several clubs now, with Catalans Dragons and Wakefield Trinity apparently joining Hull KR in the hunt for last year's Dream Team centre.

However, when approached by Rugby League Live, figures at Wakefield emphatically shut down the idea of signing Macdonald, insisting he wasn't a player on their radar. Trinity are one of the clubs that currently have salary cap space and a quota spot to play with. However, they do not intend to use it on Macdonald, with the club putting faith in the likes of Corey Hall, Cam Scott and new recruit Jayden Myers as their long-term centres.
Macdonald is likely to attract interest from across the competition following an outstanding season for the Reds last season, standing out as one of their star performers.
As for Wakefield, they are still considering their options heading on the Salford situation, with the latest apparent hold before a fire sale giving them more time to consider their options.
The Reds are still locked in takeover talks and have now set a new deadline of January 21st before needing to sell their players.
