Wakefield Trinity forward Matty Storton knows all too well what to expect when his side host Hull KR at the DIY Kitchens Stadium on Thursday evening - the club's first home game since their return to the top-flight.

Amassing more than 100 appearances across five seasons at Sewell Group Craven Park, the 25-year-old forward made the switch during the off-season to join Daryl Powell’s outfit on a three-year deal.

He will face his former team-mates with Wakefield high on confidence, having stunned Leeds Rhinos for a 14-12 result in the opening weekend of action.

Storton said: "I’ve spoken to a couple of the [Hull KR] lads, and they’re excited, and the boys here are too. It’s going to be a great night, two great teams going at it.

“They’re a bit of a different team this year with different personnel and have added a lot of quality, but obviously I’ve helped where I can [in preparations].

“They’re a very fit team, they like to go set-for-set, and they have got really good middles. Hopefully, we can exploit some things on Thursday night and get the win.”

The former Bradford Bulls man is expecting a firing Mikey Lewis after the reigning Man of Steel was left frustrated by his personal performance in the 19-18 golden point win over Castleford. Rovers were forced into overtime against Danny McGuire's spirited Tigers following a late try from Zac Cini.

“He’s a competitor, so if he thought he played badly, he’ll do everything in his power to try to rectify that on Thursday night," Storton added. "We have to nullify that. We’re really looking forward to the challenge.

“We need to be on for 80 minutes against him.”
