Wales winger Regan Grace has signed for Cardiff Rugby with immediate effect.

Cardiff are short on wide men currently, with the likes of Mason Grady, Iwan Stephens, Harri Millard and Theo Cabango all injured. Grace has signed for the capital city region until the end of the season, and began training with the squad on Monday morning.

The 28-year-old former rugby league star played for Wales in an uncapped game against Queensland reds during the summer, where he bagged his first try.

After switching over to rugby union in 2022, Grace had signed for Top 14 heavyweights Racing 92. However, due to a serious Achilles injury, he never played for the club, and ended up signing for Bath in the English Premiership to complete his rehab.

Grace wasn't involved in Bath's loss to Northampton Saints on the weekend, with the news of his prospective move breaking a few hours after the game had finished.

The winger, who is available for this weekend's European Challenge Cup match against Perpignan, said: “I’ve always been excited about Cardiff - it’s a big, historical club and a lot of legends have played here.

“Coming back to play on home soil has also always been something I have wanted to do, so to do that in the capital city is a great opportunity.

“I’m very much aware of all the dual-code legends who have played for, or come through, Cardiff, so to follow in those footsteps is pretty cool.

“There’s a lot of competition in the back-three, from someone like Josh Adams, who is already a legend of the game, a British Lion who is so consistent for Wales, to guys like Theo Cabango and Gabe Hamer-Webb.

“So it’s a good, competitive environment and I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible from all those guys.

"I just want to play, to be able to put together back-to-back matches, be consistent and keep learning. You learn from playing and I’m looking forward to putting my hand up for selection.”

During his time in rugby league, Grace played for St Helens in the Betfred Super League, and was a prolific try-scorer. He crossed the whitewash 88 times in 142 appearances.

Now that Grace will be plying his trade in Wales, he'll be hoping he can catch the eye of Warren Gatland ahead of the Six Nations.

Cardiff Rugby head coach, Matt Sherratt said: “We’re really pleased to bring Regan to the club, he is a great addition, in a position where we needed reinforcement.

“He is obviously an incredibly exciting player but he is also a really good person and professional. Everyone we have spoken to, could not have spoken highly enough of Regan.

“He impressed during the summer with Wales and we are excited to see what he can achieve as he continues his transition to union within our environment.”
