Wales international Archie Griffin appears to be a major doubt for the 2025 Six Nations after having an operation.

The front rower sustained a shoulder injury in a game against La Rochelle on the opening weekend of the Investec Champions Cup on Friday, December 6.

Prior to Bath's game against Benetton in the Champions Cup last weekend, head coach Johan van Graan provided some clarity on Griffin's injury status.

"Archie Griffin looks like he has injured his shoulder," said van Graan. "We will do some more research on what that looks like over the next couple of weeks."

While that may have provided some hope for Wales and Bath fans about his return to the field, the man himself posted a photo from a hospital bed on Instagram.

The photo shows his left arm in a sling, with a large medical pad over his shoulder.

The 23-year-old looked in good spirits, though, holding up a fist with the caption: "Boshing with one hand for a while."

With just over six weeks until Wales begin their Six Nations campaign against France, it seems unlikely that Griffin will be named in Warren Gatland's squad for the tournament.

Wales' first Six Nations match is against France at Stade de France on Friday, January 31.
