Wales host Ireland in round three of the Six Nations on Saturday.

It will be the first match in charge for interim head coach Matt Sherratt, with Warren Gatland leaving his role during the fallow week following his 14th successive loss at Test level.

Cardiff Rugby boss Sherratt has rung the changes for his first match at the helm, most notably deciding to start Max Llewellyn and Ben Thomas in the midfield. Eyebrows were raised when Llewellyn was not selected by Gatland to begin with, and others were left perplexed when Thomas, an inside centre, was being picked at fly-half.

What have the coaches said?

Wales interim head coach Matt Sherratt: "They’re very, very well-coached. They’ll understand there’s not a lot of huge changes we can make. They won’t come with any change in mindset. They’re very good at imprinting their game on the opposition. They make tweaks but there’s not huge changes from them. They’ll maybe look at some Cardiff footage, but they’ll mainly focus on themselves."

Ireland interim head coach Simon Easterby: "Playing Wales in Cardiff is one of the great tests and we know the challenge that awaits us. With a new coaching set-up in place, Wales will be re-energised and determined to impress in front of a vocal home support.

“There will also be a huge Irish travelling support which, when added to the closed roof and the great respect and rivalry between the two nations, will add to an electric atmosphere."
