Wanderers goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has been charged with “misconduct” by the FA due to an incident at Reading last weekend.

Baxter is alleged to have acted in an “improper manner” during the warm-ups at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The former Hull City shot stopper has until Monday to provide a response to the charge.

A statement via the official FA Spokesperson account read: “Bolton Wanderers FC’s Nathan Baxter has been charged with misconduct following their EFL League One fixture against Reading FC on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

“It’s alleged that the goalkeeper acted in an improper manner during the pre-match warm up of the fixture. He has until Monday, February 10, 2025 to provide a response.”

Baxter has been a big player for the Whites since his arrival at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in the summer of 2023.

However, the 26-year-old has been on the bench for the past few matches with Luke Southwood getting the nod between the sticks.

Wanderers suffered a late defeat against the Royals, with Harvey Knibbs slotting home from the penalty spot in the 89th minute after debutant Kion Etete was judged to have handled inside the area.

It was Steven Schumacher’s first game in charge of the Whites, having been confirmed as the new head coach less than 48 hours before the fixture.

Schumacher takes charge of his first match at the Toughsheet Community Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) as Crawley Town make the trip up North.

Rob Elliot’s side currently find themselves in the relegation zone, although they have at least one game in hand on the sides around them.

A positive result could take Wanderers back into the play-off places depending on results elsewhere in the division.
