Wanderers Women are looking forward to finally getting back in front of a home crowd against Morecambe this weekend.

The Whites were due to host Fleetwood a fortnight ago but that game ended up being played behind closed doors due to the weather conditions.

Bolton enter the game on the back of a 2-0 victory against Wigan to book their place in the County Cup semi-final.

“We are confident that it's definitely going to be at Colls,” manager Myles Smith told The Bolton News. “I only spoke to Paul Gregory, the chairman, this morning and he said the pitch is looking good.

“They are doing some work on it for us now. We have really missed playing in front of our fans, they are absolutely superb for us.

“They have been all season and they really make a difference. There have been times this season where we have had backs against the wall and they have had to pull us through.

“They have done that on more than one occasion, and the love and support that they show for this football club, for this team, has been unbelievable. We are hoping to have our usual 500-plus faces down this Sunday.”

Wanderers are looking to maintain their 100 per cent record in the league against a Morecambe side sitting just above the drop zone.

“They are probably not where they want to be right now in the table but, that being said, they have had a lot of changes happening this year,” Smith explained.

“With management, players and a different system in place, they have made a lot of changes. Recently, they have scored 25 goals in the last five games so they are putting goals away.

“They are starting to pick up a few results now so they are certainly a team that we can't be complacent against.

“They have a bit of a mixture of both in terms of they like to be direct, but they also like to play football from time to time. We have to be prepared for everything.

“We have got a few players out who won't be involved in the game this weekend so we are not at our full strength, but we are more than trusting the players who are stepping in.”

Jess Lightfoot got back on the scoresheet against Wigan. The highly rated forward, who is on dual registration from Everton, had been prolific during the first half of the campaign before re-joining the Toffees to be on the bench for the Merseyside derby.

“Having her back in the mix and getting back into that kind of rhythm is a boost for the team,” said Smith. “We know what Jess is capable of.

“She came back after spending a bit of time at Everton and after the Christmas break. She knew it was going to take a little bit of time to get herself back in and get herself firing again.

“Obviously, she came on and had some minutes against Fleetwood. We brought here on at half time against Wigan.

“We needed her to hold the ball up for us a little bit like she does and tidy up possession. She did that well for us, linking the play.

“Obviously, you can see what she is capable of. The goal she scored, that is a top-class finish that allowed the team to kick on from it. We are delighted to have her back.”

The game takes place at the Dreams2Reality Stadium on Sunday, January 26 (2pm) and – as always for home fixtures – attendance is FREE.
