Warrington Rylands' resurgence continues away from home
WARRINGTON Rylands' superb form either side of the new year continued on Saturday afternoon.
Their 2-1 victory at Mickleover stretched their unbeaten run in Northern Premier League Premier Division football to eight matches, with both goals coming in the first half.
Matt Regan opened the scoring for Blues as they put further distance between themselves and the relegation places, with Alex Kiwomya doubling the lead in first-half injury time.
Dylan Edwards converted a penalty to halve the deficit for the hosts, but Neil Reynolds' side closed out the win to move up to 13th in the table.
'We could have had five or six,' says Warrington Rylands boss
After the game, Reynolds admitted there were times towards the end of the game when he "couldn't watch" after Edwards' penalty had given Mickleover a chance of snatching a point in injury time.
However, he credited his side for seeing the game through having dominated the earlier exchanges.
"I thought we were excellent and I’ve said to the lads that I’m a bit gutted that we haven’t got five or six there," he said.
"They’ve got a penalty that probably wasn’t, but we’ve made some unbelievable chances – their keeper has probably made two of the saves of the season today.
"To come away from home and control the game the way we did do, I’m really pleased.
"That’s seven or eight unbeaten now and it’s another great win on the road.
"We didn’t just find a way to win, we controlled the game and there were some excellent individual performances but the team as a whole did really, really well so I’m chuffed with it.
"It's not a penalty, but he’s given it and then we’ve got to see it through and there’s been times this year where we haven’t been able to do that.
"There were some times I wasn't able to watch but it’s a good sign of a mature side that’s going in the right direction.
"We’ve come a long way as a team and that result is massive for us today. It gives us a real foothold where we want to be in the league."

Can Warrington Rylands now look up rather than down?
Another three points now means the cushion between Rylands and the relegation places is five points.
And while there is plenty of football to be played, their superb form means they can now arguably start looking up the table as opposed to over their shoulder.
Blues sit on 31 points from 25 games in the middle of a congested middle section of the table, with Hyde United in eighth and Workington in 16th separated by just four points.
Their next game sees them make the short trip up the M6 to Bamber Bridge on Saturday.
