Wataru Endo names the 'amazing' player he loves playing alongside for Liverpool
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has managed his squad rotation well this season, with injuries not piling up as they have in the past. But Wataru Endo has still not played as often as he might have liked.
And the Japan captain, who was signed from Stuttgart in 2023, has opened up on how much he loves playing alongside Alexis Mac Allister in particular. "He’s an amazing player," Endo said on his Red Machine podcast. "He can do everything on the pitch, not only offensively, but he defends well to be honest.
"Sometimes last season he played as a number six as well, and I think he was playing very well. He has a good shot, good passing and he fights! So, I’m really happy to play with him."

Endo has made played just 460 minutes for Liverpool so far under Slot, having been used for almost 3000 under Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24, his debut campaign in England. But he has already insisted that he is happy with his role in the team, which has mainly involved coming in for the domestic cups.
"I don't get frustrated about [not playing]," Endo told reporters including Liverpool.com earlier this month. "I always just try to be ready for the team, to help. Of course I want to play every game but we need everyone. The thing I can do is prepare for every game [in case] I have minutes."
Liverpool.com says: Finding an upgrade on Endo should be a priority for Liverpool in the summer, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't made a positive impact at Anfield since he came in. He could also play his part before the end of this season because Ryan Gravenberch is going to need a break at some point.
