What to expect:
In a first for the Olympics, the Opening Ceremony won’t be held inside a stadium. The more than 10,500 athletes from 206 countries will embark on the annual Parade of Nations via almost 100 boats down the Seine River, which cuts through the center of Paris. Team USA will feature flag-bearers LeBron James and Coco Gauff.
Lady Gaga and Celine Dion are set to perform at the commencement ceremony.

The almost four-mile route starts from the Austerlitz bridge around 7:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT) and travels to the front of the Trocadéro on the west end of the city, where the main ceremonies will take place, and where NBCU is setting up its main broadcast center for the 16 days of games.
Organizers said 80 giant screens and speakers will be set up around the city to allow residents and visitors to watch along with the hundreds of spectators expected to line the river and its bridges.
