The run-in to the World Snooker Championships is well underway, and a packed roster of stars are preparing to battle it out for the German Masters.

Shaun Murphy caused a shock by lifting the Masters at Alexandra Palace, defeating world champ Kyren Wilson in a final where the outcome didn't ever look in any doubt with the Magician back to his very best. Murphy's win moved him up to second in this year's prizemoney list and he'll be determined to build on his scintillating form in Germany.

However to do that he'll have to defeat some of the very best the world has to offer; number one seed Judd Trump suffered semi-final disappointment at the Masters, and will be keen to put that behind him and edge closer to the £2m in prizemoney mark. Neil Robertson made the most of his last minute Masters call-up after Ronnie O'Sullivan pulled out, defeating Scotland's John Higgins - and bother players are back on the entry list for Germany once again. O'Sullivan meanwhile continues to be absent, and is joined in not competing by Chinese star Ding Junhui.
