Liverpool begins its quest for FA Cup glory when it takes on Accrington Stanley at Anfield in the third round on Saturday. It has been an incredible start to the Arne Slot era but the Reds boss will want to end the season with silverware.

His side sits at the top of the Premier League and Champions League but was beaten for just the second time this campaign by Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg in midweek. Liverpool will be out for revenge when the two sides meet again at Anfield in a matter of weeks.

But for now focus turns to the other domestic cup competition and the visit of fourth tier side Accrington Stanley. The two sides do have history but Liverpool will be expecting to progress.

Slot suggested in his pre-match press conference that he will give minutes to some of his fringe players and youngsters. "Every team against us is a special occasion for every team but especially a lower league team, so they will be all up for it," he said.

"They have lived this game for weeks probably... so we need to bring the best out of ourselves. "If we go to the Champions League final, everyone is hyped up and that is for them tomorrow, it will feel like the Champions League final and we have to be aware of that."

How to watch

The game at Anfield has an unusual kick-off time, although Liverpool fans will be used to Saturday lunchtime games by now. It is due to get underway at 12:15pm GMT, which means an early start for supporters in the States, with a 7:15am kick-off (ET).

For those supporters in the UK, the match will be shown live on ITV1 and streamed on ITVX. It will also be streamed on ESPN+ for those Stateside.

There are concerns that the match could be postponed after freezing temperatures on Merseyside this week. Liverpool has insisted it will keep fans updated on any developments.

Who is Accrington Stanley?

The club is based in Lancashire, not too far away from Liverpool and currently sits 19th in League Two after winning just six of its 23 matches so far this season.

There are links to Liverpool with boss John Doolan a former academy coach at Anfield and credited with bringing through a number of players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Team news

Arne Slot has hinted that Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa will start after finding their opportunities limited so far this season. There could also be minutes for youngsters Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

Dominik Szoboszlai is available after missing the last two matches while Jarell Quansah should also be involved after his withdrawal against Tottenham in midweek.
