Manchester United welcomes Newcastle United to Old Trafford later today, with the two sides in contrasting form. It's sure to be an engaging contest.

It has been a bumpy start for Ruben Amorim, who has failed to offer any real bounce after replacing Erik ten Hag. The Man United squad is yet to get to grips with the system, and has slipped to 14th in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe also looked to be on thin ice for a while, but Newcastle has found some good form of late, which has been enough to rise up to seventh in the table. A win today would see the Magpies fly up to fifth, ahead of Manchester City.

Early team news

On the injury front, Mason Mount's cruel luck continues, and he is sidelined for some time. Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are also still absent.

There are also some issues for Howe. Callum Wilson is a long-term absentee for Newcastle, although the form of Alexander Isak makes that less of a concern.

Jamaal Lascelles, Emil Krafth and Sven Botman are all missing from the back line, with Nick Pope unavailable between the sticks too. Tino Livramento faces a late fitness test after contracting an illness, while Kieran Trippier's reaction is being assessed following his return to the XI on Boxing Day.
