Liverpool is in domestic cup action for a second successive game on Sunday as the Reds travel to Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Arne Slot's men secured their place in the final of the Carabao Cup last week and are the heavy favorites to progress to the last 16 of the FA Cup against Championship opposition.

Plymouth upset Premier League outfit Brentford in the third round and has enjoyed an upturn in form since the departure of former manager Wayne Rooney.

If Arne Slot didn't know what lies in wait for his team, Saturday's matches will have gone some way to showing him, after Manchester City was ran close by League One outfit Leyton Orient, and Newcastle required a late goal to win at third-tier Birmingham.

Team news

Slot confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tyler Morton are both set to miss the match, with the former likely to return in the coming days but the latter expected to be sidelined for a significant period of time.

“[This weekend's FA Cup match against Plymouth is] going to be too early for him," Slot said of Alexander Arnold, who sustained a minor thigh problem against Bournemouth last weekend. "Difficult to say [whether he will return against Everton next week]. Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available."

Of Morton, who is out with a shoulder problem, Slot said: “[He will be out] for weeks or maybe even longer”.
