Another day, another Leeds United fixture which will be played out under the scrutiny of the TV cameras. Such is the price of being a top side in a Championship devoid of much intrigue this season.

The Whites remain the most interesting side in the division by a long way, although Daniel Farke would love a 'boring' away win today. His squad is battered and bruised after their midweek efforts against Middlesbrough, but he knows they must keep up the pressure on Sheffield United.

Even if the Blades continue their good form, it won't be long before it's a two-horse race and, with promotion all that matters, that will suit Leeds down to the ground. Preston have struggled for form but are better on home soil, so this won't be easy - but Leeds should win. Here's all you need to know.

Early Leeds United team news

Farke has a few injury issues to assess before naming his starting XI today, with Junior Firpo ruled out and defenders Max Wober, Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle all nursing knocks, Late calls will be made on their availability, while several other players have issues, although Farke did not specifiy who. Ilia Gruev remains sidelined, but we could see Ethan Ampadu continue his recovery after a substitute's appearance against Middlesbrough.

Who is the Preston vs Leeds United referee?

John Busby is the man in the middle at Deepdale today, and this will only be the second time he's officiated Leeds. That saw a 3-2 win at Norwich last season, but Farke and Co will be hoping for a more routine three points than that game, which saw them come from two-goals down to win.

What have the managers said?

Daniel Farke: “It’s always a difficult place to go. They have an experienced manager at this level. Always play with fighting spirit and competitiveness. After an impressive away game, they are five unbeaten and will play with confidence.”

Paul Heckingbottom: "We are going to have to cope and manage that 24 hours fewer, which I disagree with. I have said that many times - I disagree with it - but we are certainly going to have to look at that. Recovery is starting now, players are getting prepped now - but we will be ready come 12:30 Saturday."
