Stoke City are back in action at the Bet365 Stadium this weekend as they host fellow second-tier outfit Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round.

As respite from a gruelling Championship campaign in which Stoke currently sit five points above the drop zone, Mark Robins hopes to oversee a strong cup run with his new side. The manager won the FA Cup as a player with Manchester United and last season extraordinarily took Coventry City all the way to the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium against his old club.

“I think it’s difficult to say but winning football matches breeds confidence in any case but it also gives people opportunities. It throws up an opportunity for other people this weekend because we have some cup-tied players," the boss explained.

Assessing his side since his arrival last month, Robins added: "Levels have gone up markedly. I watched training back from the first session that we did and players are aware that levels have gone up and that can be a motivating factor as well. I just want those things to stay.

"They’re a really good set, a really good group of people and players and they’re trying to take everything on board and are then trying to execute that in training and games."

He oversaw a third round victory away at Championship high-flyers Sunderland, whilst at the same time Cardiff similarly beat Sheffield United. The Bluebirds were battered 7-0 by Leeds United last weekend in the league, now the two teams meet to remain in the cup.

And so, Stoke-on-Trent Live provides the necessary details of how to follow this important FA Cup clash...
