The notion of a competitive derby clash between Watford and Luton at Vicarage Road being attended by less than 3,000 fans seems implausible – step forward the Anglo-Italian Cup.

Having initially taken place from 1970 to 1973, the competition returned as a semi-professional tournament from 1976 to 1986 before it was brought back to life in 1992 as a professional event for second tier clubs from the two countries.
