Wayne Rooney makes cheeky dig seconds into new commentary job
Wayne Rooney made a jovial jab at Manchester City during his Champions League commentary debut on Amazon Prime. As the new high-profile recruit for Amazon's coverage of the knockout phase, following his departure from Plymouth Argyle, Rooney's first gig was to analyse City's crucial clash with Real Madrid in the play-off round.
Manchester United's legendary top scorer did not miss the chance for a playful reference to his glory days at Old Trafford. Kicking off Amazon's live coverage, he remarked about The Etihad: "Obviously, it's a stadium I've scored a lot of goals in... So I'm sure I'll get a nice welcome!"
This humorous mention referencing his tally of six goals at The Etihad won approval from United supporters online, with many echoing the sentiment on social media platforms.

Rooney continued his comedic spree, sending co-hosts Gabby Logan, Daniel Sturridge and Clarence Seedorf into fits of laughter with a quip about the weather conditions and how it might affect his well-documented hair transplants. He quipped: "I hope the rain doesn't come down any more, my hair will be all over the place! ".
Since parting ways with Argyle where he struggled to secure victories and left the club at the bottom of the Championship table, Rooney has been approached by numerous broadcasters. .
After being shown the door, the former forward's management career is currently in limbo. Rooney was relieved of his duties at Birmingham City following an underwhelming spell at the helm, subsequent to a period managing in the United States with D.C. United in the MLS.
Nevertheless, during a recent discussion on The Overlap, when queried about what lies ahead, Rooney expressed a resolute wish to re-engage with management, stating: "I would like to go back in [to management]. But it would have to be the right club. Certainly the right club."
Rooney elaborated: "I think you always have that ego, don't you? You always have that confidence you could go in and get the best out of a bad or difficult situation. Obviously, that wasn't the case [at Plymouth]. I am going to enjoy time with my family, though."
